Question for TMBS:)
I figured you'd be able to help me out on this one since I can't find the original posts regarding forcing digital in the call preference part of the hidden menu. I tried doing this one time, just to save battery, but everytime it switches from 1x to D it shows the solid triangle at the top (that's roaming right?)...is this normal? or is there a way to combat this. For now, I just put it back to auto.
If anyone else can answer this, I'd really appreciate it as well. Thanks!
PS- of all the options for call preference, is there a better one than all digital or auto?

Selecting a preferred mode is a matter of your location at any given time... in the Milwaukee area Verizon uses US Cellular for their "Extended Network", and they happen to be a 800MHz CDMA network here... so setting a preferred mode of Cellular Only keeps the phone from going to the 1900MHz PCS CDMA band, which in general does not penetrate into buildings as well as 800MHz does...
DO NOT SWITCH TO ANY PREFERRED MODE THAT CAUSES A STEADY TRIANGLE TO SHOW ON THE IDLE SCREEN... THIS WOULD BE THE FULL ROAMING MODE... AND YOU WILL BE PAYING FOR IT...!!!
A flashing Triangle is fine... as it indicates a that your phone is using the Verizon "Extended Network"...
Also... 1x or D digital modes are not important during normal voice calls...

I guess I'll be leaving my phone on auto then, because every time it leaves 1x and goes to D, it has a solid triangle. Thanks for the info.

Love it there... Oahu is nice... but our favorite island is Kauai...

Yea especially with all the rain we've been having...but then again...guess it's a hell of a lot better than snow blizzards 😉
Thanks for the help...I'd like to know why it goes into roaming after the indicator switches to D. As far as I now, my past phones never roamed at home except every once in a while when it would switch to analog.
