Hey!! What the heck is wrong with the alerts?!

I set my phone to "loud beeps" for my text message alerts. According to the manual it should loud beep "every 2 minutes." It has only beeped once and I did not view the message! It's been 10 minutes and the only thing it continues to do is the red led is blinking. Could someone else try this to see if this is a model-wide problem...

Mine does the same thing. I read the manual and set the settings but the alerts don't seem to work.

I set mine to "vibrate remind" and it will beep every 2 minutes! I wrote to Audiovox to see if we need to set something else to get the regular beeps to work.

I have mine set to "Loud Beeps" and it beeps exactly every two minutes...

As soon as you open the Flip the "Remind" feature is canceled...

That's the way it is suppose to work. 🙂 Once you are "reminded" and you take action (by fliping open the phone and looking at it) the reminder beeps will stop.

After all, who wants to hear the beeps for another hour when you have already been notified? 🙄 If that was your wife reminding you, it would be called nagging!!!! đŸ¤Ŗ

I know that's how it is supposed to work...

I was answering those on this thread that are saying their phones are not doing the reminder beeps, at all... and I thought they might have had the flip open during the original message or they opened the flip, and thereby canceled the "reminder beep" function...

If the text message comes from a phone that is in your phonebook with a custom ringer, Caller ID will change your "Loud Beeps" to the custom ringer that is assigned to that phone.

However, it should still repeat every two minutes until you interact with the phone, such as pressing any side buttons or flipping it open.

At least mine does.

FYI... If you check, you will find that pressing the side buttons does not cancel the "reminder beep"... but opening the flip does...

I just tried the beep reminder system by sending myself a message through "vtext.com"...

Again... no problem the phone is sitting here politely going "beep beep beep" every 2 minutes...

I have no idea what you are doing wrong... but you either have something set wrong, or you have a defective phone...

Actually, we are both right.

When the phone is idle with a new message pending, and the ouside display is only showing time, the first push of a side button activates the display, and shows the "New Msg Received" announcement, but does not acknowledge the message or cancel the beeps. However, if you press a side button (second press) while that message is being displayed (before it returns to idle mode), it will acknowledge the message, and cancel the re-occurring beeps.

So pushing a side button once does not cancel the beeps, but pushing a side button twice will.

I've never tried the beeps for text messages but it will do it for voicemail. However you mentioned that if you have a custom ringer in place for a particular contact, it will take precedence over the beep. Will it still remind you repeatedly in that ringtone?

If you have a custom ringtone set for a person, it will remind you in the custom tone that is set for about 3 seconds every 2 minute until you open the phone or push the side keys twice.

You can check it yourself, just set your home number with a custom ringtone and call your cell phone. 🙂

What you are describing is the "Missed Call" Alert. Mine does not repeat, and I don't know where the configuation of this alert is controlled.

But I know it is true for text message alerts. (Pg 72 of the manual) If you have a special ringer set up for a cell phone, and that cell sends you a text message, you will hear the custom ringer instead of the default text message "Loud Beeps", and it will repeat the custom ringer every 2 minutes until acknowledged.

It seems that the length of the alert (1 sec, 3 sec, etc), as well as whether it will repeat every 2 minutes (Low Beeps or Loud Beeps) is controlled by the default configuration, but what you actually hear for an alert is overridden by custom ringers.

Not sure if this is an issue for everybody, but I was having trouble setting my custom ringer for voicemail alerts. I played around with my phone yesterday and figured out that you can adjust the length of the alert. If you do 3/9/1/6/7/1, you can adjust it 1 sec, 3 sec, 5 sec, etc. The default was 1 second, I assume because that's how long the beeps last. So, my ringer was working, it just wasn't ringing long enough for me to hear it. Thought I would share some info.
