external antenna for 9900

Hi. I have a signal in my house but I keep dropping calls and I am very frustrated. The signal is strong outside but weak inside. Can anyone recommend an external antenna or amplifier I could buy for the 9900? I don't want something permanent that has to be mounted on the roof. Other Verizon phones have this problem in my house as well.
Thanks for your help.

The first thing to try is *228...send...option 2. This helps increase roaming/signal capabilities. You could also try to get one of the cell boost stickers. It's a little metal sticker you place next to the battery to help increase signal strength. You never know it could work.

I've tried updating the phone with no success and the sticker doesn't work. I need something that will expand or amplify the ability of my phone to get a signal in a building. There is a strong signal outside of my house so I need a product to help extend my antenna or amplify the signal inside my house. I would appreciate any suggestions for products that anyone knows about.

Are you kidding with the cell boost stickers? They do not work.

*228 will increase your roaming capabilities if there have been SID changes in your area but it will not improve your signal.

There are external portable antennae available that may work with your phone. Check at Radio Shack and do an internet search for companies that sell them. They are not expensive.

have you tried these type of external antennas? do you know who makes them? does anyone know about the effectiveness of amplifies for obtaining better signals inside a building?

I have not tried them. My answer is based on posts I have read in the Howard Forums and the alt.cellular.verizon newsgroup. Posters have tried them and seemed to be successful.
They are real antennae which may or may not work for you depending on distance from tower and obstructions not those $1.99 rip-off little stickers that are sold.

If you try one from radio shack you will probably be able to return it if it does not work for you.
