Is there a way to keep the sub lcd on while the phone is open? It sucks not being able to see what time it is when you're talking to someone. 😳

The max time you can keep the sub-LCD on is 30 seconds (Menu-7-2-1-2-Edit).

The only other option I know of is to press one of the side buttons, and it will activate the sub-LCD.

Specifically:

First push of any side button:
Activates sub-LCD

While sub-LCD is active:
Up/Down adjusts Ringer Volume
Photo button toggles sub-LCD display between Time and Date

Holding Photo button activates camera self-portrait mode

While camera is active:
Photo button takes photo
Previews photo just taken

While Photo is being previewed:
Photo button saves photo
Returns to camera mode

Sorry vegainey-guy...

He is asking about the sub-LCD during a call... the sub-LCD on the 9900 will not "come alive" while the flip is open... So, unless you use a headset the backlight can not be activate...

Even if you do use a headset you cannot get the time to display on the sub-LCD during a call... NO WAY...

Also, you cannot get the main display to show the current time during a call... it will only show the running call timer...

My wife's LD vx4500 has the current time on the outer LCD during a call...
