put a sim card in it other than the one that came with it if you bought the phone from a specific provider. If it works, it's unlocked.

But I need to know if there is a way to do it without the other sim card. I dont know anyone that has a sim card in their phone besides me!

Actually, what I should have said is put one in from a different provider/carrier that the one you're using. But that doesn't help you much, either. This might: If you bought the phone through T-Mobile it is almost certainly locked. If you bought it direct from a dealer without service it isn't. If it was originally sold through a European carrier, it probably isn't locked, either

The AT&T branded V600 does not come unlocked. The Cingular branded V600 does come unlocked, as does the unbranded version that you get get from motorola or e-bay. If you plan on using an unlocked version, all you need to do is pop in your sim card. Making and recieving calls is no problem, however, you need to flash and flex the phone to get your t-zones or m-life to work properly. I don't know how this is done, but I bet someone on this forum does.
I have a Cingular branded V600 and have used an AT&T sim card and T-Mobile card with no problem. It worked great with both.

My apologies -- you have it exactly right. I had my head stuck in the wrong forum. Phone I was referring to was the Nokia 6600. T-Mobile doesn't even market the V600.
