Hi guys, this is my first post so I'll start by sayin hello!!

I have a question. I have a Motorola v60i (CDMA with ALLTEL) and since I moved I'm not too happy with it.

I seem to be in an area dominated by Cingular and my v60's actin up like never before...droppin calls if I take a step, gettin all staticky, makin funny noises with the external speaker, etc. I've been seriously considering switchin to Cingular for better reception and nationwide coverage...not to mention rollover, but I don't wanna spend the $$ on the v600 if it's crap. What I want to know is how the v600 is gonna stack up to my v60 as far as general use goes...I already know about all the nifty features like bluetooth (in fact I've got a jabra headset I'm dyin to ...

in terms of coverage and clarity, that is more defined by the carrier then the phone...yes phones do play a part in it, especially fons that have the 850 overlay which the v600 does have...clarity wise, see above...as long as you keep in mind that it is a phone and not a camera or a pda, then the phone works fine...the big complaints that most people have is that the camera isn't amazing, for a cell phone, the camera is unbelievable (i have seen many, and by far, this has the best picture quality) if you are looking for a professional picture, by a camera...if you are looking for a phone with some cool gadgets and capablities, then this phone is well worth the money.

Thanks a lot, of course I know that the carrier and their local network play a bigger part in clarity, thank you. Basically what I'm lookin for is is this going to be better than my v60 in terms of being an actual phone. For pics I own a 3.2 megapixel camera and I have no use for a PDA, what I need is a phone, I just think the bluetooth, camera, and mp3 ringtones are nifty and I don't wanna get ripped out of a good phone for the features that I think are cool. Any more opinions for the wary shopper? 😁

I can't speak to the V60, but I will say - using ATTWS, that the calls are extremely clear, and that the 4 band phone gives me better coverage than my dual band PCS phone did with Sprint. I rarely drop calls now. Once every couple of days, vs 3-4 times / day.

Other usability features may not be what you want - for instance the phone book is different - one entry per location - reuires a lot of scrolling.

Also - at a glance - the StarTac I replaced had really large fonts, whereas this phone does not. That's OK indoors, but not when you're driving. One nice feature is that when you review last calls received and sent it goves you a time stamp and also connect time. On the other hand - if you recall a call just dialed, it does not p...

thanks a lot. I've heard that the stuff you mentioned seems to be an annoyance to most people switching from one phone brand to another, but nothing about the phonebook like one entry per name or repeating the same call on the call log sounds any different from the v60 I have now or the v120c I had prior to that. It sounds like I won't have to adapt to those things since I'm already used to them. thanks a lot guys. I think as soon as I can afford it I'm gonna go ahead with the v600. Any cingular customers out there wanna tell me how service is?
