V600 Chip in "glass" face plate

OK...I got my new V600 phone about 3 weeks ago. I am gentle with my phone, do not FLIP it open and SNAP it closed BUT the silver chrome border that goes around the black "glass" part has chipped on the left side right next to the camera lens!!! The right side is showing signs that it will chip also...Have others had this same problem and does Motorola have a fix for this so if I have it repaired it won't happen again??? Or would I be better off returning my phone while I am still under the 30 days????

This is the 1st complaint or problem I have had....I love the features on the phone, the camera is great, the ring tones are great and I love the colored light up feature

I've had the same problem. Take the phone back and exchange it.

I didn't buy mine from AT&T or Cingular so I had to deal directly with Motorola Service. The phone was there for 3 weeks.

The cracking/chipping is a common problem. You can see on the board a lot of people wrote about it.

Good Luck

I had the exact problem with the crack (I think it is casued by the front plastic touches the back when the phone opens).

Since the problem happened within 30 days, I called ATTWS and they shipped me a replacement (FedEx) the next day.

I also called MOTO to report the problem hoping that they can address it

I discovered a crack running across the top edge at the point where the polished chrome, surrounding the hard pastic lining, ends (just as described in this forum). The crack is quite long and runs from the right edge almost halfway to the camera lens.

I am just out of 30 days of purchase (40 to be exact), and otherwise the phone is pristene. Will AT&T replace this for me or should I call MOTO?

Will Motorola ever do a service recall on this part?

Thanks!

I would try to go to ATT to have them swipe out if possible.

I had to deal with Motorola and it was a pain. The phone was there for 3 weeks for the cracking bezel

Yeah, this really sucks. I have to pay to ship my phone which is obviously a defect due to the manufacturer.

So after calling AT&T and Motorola, I agree that the best thing to do is call AT&T and pay them $14.95 for them to ship a loaner phone to you. Given that I'm out of the 30 day AT&T warranty Motorola has to eventually handle the claim. It's best to let AT&T deal with it. If you decide to go the MOTO route, then prepare to pay for your own shipping, additional cost for getting a loaner phone from a service center, and then waiting at least 10 days for Motorola to look and send back.

YUK.

I agree. I would try AT&T first to see if they can do anything before I go to Motorola.

One more thing. When AT&T send you a replacement, they will charge you for the full cost of the phone. Once you return the defective unit, they will issue you a credit (I think they do that in case you are not returning the phone). But the problem is that depends on the timing of your billing cycle, you may end up folk up the money for the phone and wait for the credit next month.
