HELP! 2.1 Update
I tried the update and get the following message:
E: error in /sdcard/upgate.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted
I did a "Factory Data Reset" and tried again and got the same error.
That si the only kind of reset I could find. My phone is running DroidMod.
How would I and how can I remove DroidMod?

I'm pretty sure that DM Updater has a return to stock option.
If not, alldroid.org has a good set of instructions for that.
You should be OK just loading a stock ROM image, as the 2.1 file updates recovery as well.
If push really comes to shove, you can use adb to flash back to a pre-2.0.1 image, which will then update to 2.0.1, which in turn should now be able to get updated to 2.1 with the "update" screen.
If not, alldroid.org has a good set of instructions for that.
