Seriously? I'm pretty impressed. Live wallpapers are neat, but ultimately useless. Speech reco in any text field, on the other hand, super awesome. New gallery works much better. Multi-touch in the browser is very nice. And it seems the phone is just a little snappier overall, but that's subjective.

App drawer animation seemed glitchy when using the live wallpapers, so I do not use them.
The new weather and news widget is nice, but you can get similar through the app store.
I have gotten use to double tap for zooming, so pinch to zoom is rarely used.
I haven't figured out this text to speech thing everyone is talking about, what apps use it??
I had to reset my bluetooth connection to my car stereo after the update (Pioneer AVIC 700BT), I did not anticipate having to do that.

In all, it was a very highly hyped update, but I do not think it deserved to be a 2.1, more like a 2.05.

You can now speak into any text input field. Just click in the field with the soft keyboard and click the microphone button, which is where the comma was in landscape mode. The voice recognition is really good, in fact, i typed this using it.

Ah, sorry its where the comma was in both landscape and portrait mode. Handy for replying to text messages while driving.

not like you still wont have to give the pigs 150$ if you get caught speaking into the phone using text to speech, also now in NY if you get 2 cellphone tickets in 6 months its the same as reckless driving, yehaa pigs more money for you guys less money for us, love the state, and ironically all cops blatenly use their cell's when driving, but then again whose gonna give them a ticket, also ironically the ones who enforce the laws feel they dont apply to them, major hypocrisy, in a police state, it's modern day slavery out there watch your back people.

something i noticed about double tap zooming, though, is that it is now much more effective at zooming what you want, and actually re-renders the screen rather than just zooming to the column.

IMO, that alone is worth a lot. Also pinch zooming is nice for zooming less than whatever the double-tap does, or in those circumstances where double tap zooms in, and then zooms in again, before zooming out, but you want to zoom back out right away.

double tap does nothing on my updated phone. Do I need to turn that on somewhere. Also, where is the setting for choosing my default browser?
thanks

Not tons of superficial changes. On the other hand, that's not necessarily a bad thing, in that it's not all fluff.

The new gallery is amazing. Did you notice you can now swipe through your pictures? That's something that has been complained about.

Multitouch (ie, pinch zoom in browser) works a lot of other places now too. You can zoom on the maps live wallpaper, double tap zoom in, and pinch zoom in and out. Not a huge deal if you had dolphin browser, which already had pinch zoom, and they already had released the pinch zoom in maps. But it's still neat.

There's a lot of changes under the hood, including radio updates and I believe GPS firmware updates too.

I agree that is feels peppier (even though it is still running unde...

Radio updates is a HUGE positive, for instance yesterday before the update it took almost 10 minutes to buffer iheartradio, and once buffered it was cutting in and out bad. Today with the update, buffered in less than 15 seconds (literally) and hasn't cut out once and i've listened to for a solid 2 hours. Version 2.1 impresses me very much so.

I did expect a few more screens to be available. I was hoping to have a full screen for the calwidget.

Is there a way to get more screens?

Thanks

making a ruckus about it, eh?

2.0 and 2.1 are the SAME OS, just with minor tweaks between them. They are based on the same kernal and both are considered "Flan" by google's naming.

2.1 was NEVER going to be a big update. People were freaking out because the number was higher.. that's all
