Nov 26, 2004, 2:42 PM
I need to unlock this phone, It worked with AT&T but when I switched to Cinular its locked. I went to one of the sites for 5 bucks and give you IMEI number and they give you an unlock code. Still dosen't work,

Phones are locked by the manufactuers for a reason. That reason being that the specifications of their network requires phones that have been manufactured specifically to be compatible with their specific networks. If you are unable to find a website that unloocks phones, your phone will still not work with all features of the Cingualr, system, txt, mms or even data may not be supported because technologically it is a different operating system. As well Cingular wil lnot be able to offer you any warrenty, the manufactuer will not be able to offer you any warrenty, as well neither of the two will be able to troubleshoot any problems with you as you have altered the way th ephones were designed to be used.I would recommend purchasing a Cingula...

there are lots of apps that will generate the codes for you a, and yes it will work on any gsm provider. The last poster really should do some research before shooting his mouth off.

I couldn't agree more. The GSM phones are locked for the maufacturer...but thats so you aren't buying a phone thats 400$ for 20$ and then paying the ETF to get out of your contract and go with another provider. Myself and my boyfriend have both used phones that were made for GSM service in the US and we are using those unlocked phones in canada. And as long as you get a rep that knows what they are talking about when doing the settings on your phone, there's no reason you can't use and unlocked phone normally on another provider
