I was in Verizon training today and have a couple of thoughts.

Pros:
Speaker phone is very loud
Click interface is nice
having CDMA and GSM is awsome
Screen resolution is the bomb

Cons:
user interface is very slow
user interface is sloppy
user interface is very slow
user interface is sloppy.

Overall I would give it 30 days before they fix these massive interface bugs but I will say that when it happens I might soon say that it will be the IPhone Killer. Good Luck Blackberry oh and PS your T-Mobile Flip is sleek but I would toss that sucker in a creek.
Indirect Rocks.

Have heard about the "very slow" or "sloppy" interface. A few other reviewers are saying it's comparable to the lag in the iphone.

Any thoughts?

I used it for about an hour today and I found the interface neither sloppy or slow. It wasn't as lightning quick as you see on TV, but none of them ever are. I think it was on par with the iPhone so if you aren't happy with that, you might not like it. Otherwise, I'd take a previous posters advice and try it for 30 days. See if there are any software enhancements by then, and if not, see if it's usable for you. With VZW's 30 day no risk policy, there is no reason really not to give it a run and see if it's right for you.

Don't let anyone else's opinion sway you from trying the device for yourself.

Big Point here. Most of the demos that are out in the field, including the one our indirect account manager had with him...has a software version that is 2 VERSIONS OLD ALREADY. So hopefully the newer version is faster.

The version I used was their store demo. It just hadn't been put on display yet. I didn't think to check the software version. I would assume the store demo would have the latest build though?

Nah, unless the Tech has updated it. Theres no telling when they shipped it to be a demo or put in hands of the select few to handle it. No telling though..I havent researched the software version numbers, but the one I played with today had a 2 versions older and he just got it 2 days ago.

I guess we can keep our fingers crossed then that we'll see improvements on Friday. :-)

I'll bet we will see improvements quickly. This is RIM we are talking about which makes quality phones.

They seem to be on a roll with a lot of their products 😁

I tried out the Bold for a couple of weeks and really liked it. It was a big improvement from RIM's previous handsets. It wasn't my "keeper" but is defiantly a great device. You can tell with these and the upcoming offerings that RIM is making some good moves.

I got to try one in the store too. I did not think it was too slow. It was not instantaneous but it was as fast as I would need. I would call it casual. I also realized that once I high lighted a button and Then pushed it, it worked fine, but if I just pushed the button, it opened whatever application had previously been highlighted. I think some of the problems may disappear with practice, and a software upgrade.
