Disasterous 2.2 picture e-mail bug
The only defense the iPhone had against not supporting MMS was how well it handled and sent e-mailed pics to and from the phone.
Now with the new 2.2 software that ability has been severely crippled. When you save a pic sent via e-mail or saved from a webpage the iPhone will not only save and display a very low-res and blurry thumbnail pic.
This severely cripples this phones multimedia cred. I know they were rushing to get the software out on the same day the Blackberry Storm debuted but c'mon...how could such an obvious bug make it though QC?

I sent a pic to my computer from my phone and to my phone from my computer and saved them both and they both looked great. Very clear and in full size. Is this the problem you are talking about?

The problem is with pics saves to the phone from e-mail or from websites that were not taken with your iPhone. They will look very good in e-mail but then look awful saved on the phone.

I sent myself a pic from my computer that was taken by my 8mp camera and it was blurry like you said and like in the pics in the link but when i sent a pic from a 1.3mp camera phone pic it looked fine. I wonder if it has anything to do with the size of the pics? I guess we can just go back to 2.1 or wait and see what they do. Thanks.

Sounds like a problem with the algorithm they are using to render the higher resolution pics to me. That should not have slipped by them.

Who knows? My 8mp pics that i put on my phone from my computer look great it's just when they are sent by e-mail i guess. I have read online that there alot of people having problems from the 2.2 update. I'm happy with just having the blurry pic problem 🙂

Yeah, the blurry pic problem is not a hard one to overcome and not too bad in the overall scheme of things. Just backup any pics someone e-mails you to your iPhoto, move it to a folder, then reload it onto your phone. It could be a lot worse....but the fact it got by them is not a good sign.
