OK....I purchased the 3G iphone on 7/12. After having it a week and a half the screen would blank out completley....it does it all the time and takes mashing the power button up to 30 plus minutes for it to cut on.
I took it to apple.....I have "liquid damage" to the bottom port. Now listen....a bout a week ago I put my phone in the cup holder of my car....didn't notice that there was condensation from a drink in there.....so it got into the speaker area....I cut the heater on to try it out...it was fine. Now apple won't do anything.....but I have no reason to lie on this post.....My phone had the mechanical screen issue before the cup holder thing happend. Now....I have 2 days w/ my 30 days to return the phone....If I do this at at&t whe...

as far as i know there is no way they can see water damage so i would try to return it under 30 day all they can say is no. They will however charge a 10% restocking fee tho. but better than not getting it at all. 🤣
...
but when they send the phone back to apple what will apple do when they check & see water damage..... can't they turn around and bill me after I returned it?
...
They notify AT&T that the phone is water damaged and you will be charged the ETF
...
I DONT THINK THEY CAN TRACK IT,THEY SEND THEM ALL BACK IN ONE BOX AND WHOS TO SAY IT WASNT DAMAGED IN THE SHIPPING PROCESS🙂KNOW WHAT IM SAYING!!!GOOD LUCK
...
but i went to apple store yesterday...he told me the indicator was red....took my sim #....did he flag it in the system?? how can i find that out
...
yes they prob put a note in the system not sure what to do at this point hard to say. you might be stuck. you can get insurance on it through square trade they have accedental insurance just don't let them know it's damaged untill after you get the insurance. good luck.

that wouldn't work.
iPhone is not insurable, plus if the IMEI doesn't match with the account then you can't return it. The account also notes any IMEI changes so you have to return the original one.
...
Shipping companies avoid any liability with products, so it wouldn't help the case, (plus what are the odds the shipping company damaging a phone by "adding water to it")

You would have to shell out $175 to cancel, nore would you get your money back. You can't return a damaged phone, so you can't cancel within the 30 policy without penalty. Plain and simple.
Return policy cleary states that water damager voids warranty on the phone, without a warranty you can't return the phone.
Water damage IS TRACKABLE, there is a dot the indicates it. The iPhone is not (never has) insurable, so you can't add insurance to fix the problem.
No tricks, no loop holes, your phone is water damage, you can't cancel without paying $175.
It sucks I know but what can you do?

If you phone has liquid damage, and like the guy at the store said that the "indicator has turned red", basically means the whatever liquid it was went far enough inside to turn the water detection label red. Most of the time, if not all the time, us techs use the water detection labels as gospel when we work on phones. Also, when the liquid comes in contact with electricity thats when the real magic happens. We normally see electrolysis in and around the pins of the chips as proof of liquid damage.
Will they bill you later ? Well, if you did an exchange and they later on opened it and found LD and they could. Its easily trackable as to who the phone belonged to. Good luck...
