Does anyone know what the iPhone prices will be for at&t customers who are not eligible for an upgrade?

🙂 Not sure dan327. I am in the same boat as you and probably thousands of others. I wish at&t would find a way to offer the discount to current customers that have recently upgraded only because they couldn't wait for this new version. I've been an at&t customer for years and I am sure that makes no difference to the corporate giant. I would buy the iPhone and the upgraded service in a second and the company would make multiples off me compared to what they do now, but they wont. I may try and ask and psuh, but sure I'll be denied. If not - I have to wait over a year until I'm eligible for another upgrade. . . .Kinda sucks for someone who is so loyal to one company.

i don't know why everyone is having such a hard time undestanding this concept. This first Iphone had a price that was the same all the time, no discounts, nothing. You can break your iphone the first day you get it, and buy a new one the same day for the same price, just extend your contract by one day. I don't think that policy is going to change.

They have not announced the unsubsidized price for the iPhone yet. They were able to cut cost by $50 per handset so I imagine that it would be exactly the same price. If you already have an iPhone you will automatically qualify to get the phone for the subsidized price. If you bought the iPhone after I believe it is May 27th you will get full credit for what you paid for the iPhone and that would go towards the iPhone 3G.

🤤 I know stupid questions abound, but are you saying that even though I upgraded recently to a non-iPhone item, when the iPhone 3G comes out, I can get the iPhone for the subsidized price of $199 (or $299 for the 16gb) as long as I extend my two year contract? Sorry to be so dense, but this contractual crap frustrate and confuses me.

NO at&t has a press release clearly stating that if you bought a phone (not and iphone) and you are not eligible for an upgrade you CAN NOT buy a iPhone 3G for the 199 / 299 price. The problem is no one seems to know what the full price will be. I was hoping some one from at&t looking at these forums can tell us.

I honestly do not believe that they are going to make two different prices for the phone, one for out of contract, one for in contract. It would just never work.

One, there are too many current iphone users that are going to want to upgrade to the 3g.

Secondly, with Apple selling the iphone at their retail locations as well, AT&T would never want to give all of the customer information to Apple.

For those two reasons alone, I can almost promise that the price will be $199 and $299, no matter where you are within your contract.

My upgrade eligibility date is December 28th 2008 only 6 months away. Even though at&t will more a month from me if I switch to an iPhone plan and lock me into a new two year contract the rep I talked to denied my request to move my upgrade date back a little. I don't see the logic of this decision. Did I just talk to the wrong person? Should I try again? I really want an iPhone 3G and I really want to pay $299.00 for it. I can't even find out what the full price will be??? July 11th is only weeks away how could they not know?

If you only have 6 months left in your contract you are eligible to upgrade and get the promotional price on any phone... just with an upgrade fee of $18.00 on your next bill. So just don't deal with the idiot you talked to last time they don't know what's going on in the world. 😛

you could be eligible for an upgrade with 6 months left but it depends on how much revenue you bring in a month... If you've got a family talk plan for 80+ with other features u can most likely upgrade but the 10 $ add a lines probably won't be its based on revenue...its bull ****, it is always about money but I'm off topic as a rep I haven't got a clue on a no commitment price I'd assume that they would but not till a few Weeks later??? Why wouldn't they ??? Its all about that money...I wish that they would let us know i hate that...

I have talked to dozens of Apple reps at the Apple Store here in King of Prussia PA - every single one of them have all told me - $199 NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE IN YOUR CURRENT CONTRACT.

Here are some other interesting comments.
