Missing features list.
For the sake of completeness and avoiding a million "does it have this?" threads I thought we could use a consolidated list of the things the 3g iphone won't have.
A2DP (Stereo Bluetooth)
Voice Dialing
MMS
microSD or other removable/expandable memory
Flash
Also I didn't see anything about the battery issue. Will this version allow end users to replace the battery themselves?
If I missed anything or you have other info please post here.

if they did add a removable battery then it would be a competely diff design, and as far a pics go, it looks exactly the same.

So basically it is the same as iphone 1.0 with the exception of 3G and GPS. As for the battery Apple mentioned a few months ago the iphone 2.0 battery life is cut in half to 5hrs due to 3G.

This phone was a hugh let down. The first one was to feature wise but got away with the touch screen and UI. Plus it looked pretty. To me it was like buying a $100 phone for $500 because it was covered in diamonds or something. All people kept saying that the features missing could be fixed with an update or 3rd party app or jailbreaking it. I don't think you should have to do any of those things for the price it was. This time around its the same thing. They added 3g which should have been added last time and gps. Most likely the people that could afford the iphone the first time could afford a decent gps system.
I have a 8525 and I got about 2 yrs ago and its still better then the Iphone. It has 3g and the same size camera but...

I don’t own an iPhone yet, but have been waiting for the new version like everyone else. It received most of the updates I wanted like GPS and 3G, but I was really hoping it would have a 32 gig memory (to be a full iPod replacement), and SD slot and landscape mode when typing a text message (this one totally baffles me why it doesn’t have that). Most of the other missing items don’t matter much to me. I will probably end up getting one, although the not having the ability type a text in landscape mode might be enough of an issue for me not buy it. Having said that, I also have the 8525 and I HATE that POS. I have never dropped more calls than I have with that phone, it locks up and I have to remove the battery to reboot ...

What's good ppl??? I see I am not the only one upset that apple missed a few features. For me the only thing the phone is missing is MMS, such a simple feature I know would sell a lot more phones. How can they add GPS but not MMS??? I know it sounds crazy but I actually send a LOT of pic mail. The whole point is that ppl don't have to waste money on a data plan that they are not going to use. Or at least that's the way I look at it. So MMS just makes things a lil easier. Does anyone know or heard if they will or even plan on adding this feature with the next firmware update?? Thx, and keep ya head up ppl, hopefully apple will get it together one day, it's too good of a phone to have limits such as the ones listed above.

K. you got us on the removable memory no other ipod has it....(cough..the n96 does) just looks like Apple being the company that it is would try to keep up. IT IS NOT AN IPOD FIRST IT IS A PHONE!!!
Have you ever used voice dial on a blackberry?... Any blackberry??? It's the greatest. If a company like RIM can have voice dial so great on a phone why can't Apple???
MMS... you might not need it all the time but when you do it's kinda important to have... like never dialing the number 7 the your best friend get their number changed...

I think MMS can be done with the iphone email appl to any MMS capable phone by attaching the photo and sending to ATTcellnumber@mms.att.net

Again guys, Apple does what Apple wants. Like VZW, doesn't care what consumer wants. As f***ed up as the phone is, they will still make millions. Look at all the money they made so far without all the goodies. They want to compete on the business end. The iPod was thrown in to lure the younger generation. However, I do think the new Blackberry Thunder will hurt them greatly. I believe that Blackberry has all these features already, add a full touch to the phone, and there is your killer. The Voyager bombed out because LG sucks. They made a great phone till they started screwing around. They can not compete with the big boys.

The updated I phone is a piece of junk. Yes it has a great browser, visual voice mail, and an Ipod, but lets look at the minuses. No media card slot. No user removable battery. Because Apple wants to be the only ones to be able to make money for a new battery. They don't want third party vendors to make knock offs because they would lose money. No MMS, no video capture, and no flash and this is supposed to be a multimedia phone. No voice activated dialing and no cut and paste. And you have to use it on the AT&T network. Which means poor call quality, dropped calls, and a small footprint for 3G since they are behind the times. And when you get millions of people using their network with I phones what do you think will happen to download spee...

besides the micro sd, the iphone will get all these features through optional consumer updates...but if your really upset about this stuff then dont get the iphone duh duhhhh DDUUUHHHHH!

What makes the iphone special is that it doesn't have EVERYTHING on it. It has Special features that make it in a class of it's own.
YES like the rest of you, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE more Features, MMS, Copy/Past,landscape texting, Stereo B/T and on and on, but why do you think apple doesn't add all those things? Do you really think they don't know , we all want these features ? Of course they do. It's called Marketing.....
If they put everything everyone wanted on the Iphone , there would still be people complaining about to much on the phone or something.You can't make everyone happy.

The new iPhone will not have video recording or voice memo, but these are features most will not use. You can just type in your notes in notes instead of voice memo and video recording, well, that's only something i use because i have it.
