I know that it can do a few other "things" but no Wi-Fi, video player, etc for a Qwerty-board featured phone makes it difficult for me to consider purchasing for my daughter.

Is this primarily a messaging and gaming device?
What am I missing? (No flaming, please)

Note that we have WM, Nokia and Moto devices and are used to each manufacturer's modding/hacking capabilities.

Thanks for any insight.

You pretty much wrapped it up. Its geared towards the younger crowd due to its changeable housing and messaging features. Beware its a money trap because you have to pay for ring tones, alerts, apps, games, everything starting at $2.50 up to $10. I suggest a flex account for this phone to prevent over spending. Overall its a fun phone to use and priced good compared to similar qwerty keyboard phones.

Thanks for the reply.

We stopped by a TMO store over the weekend to take a look at the Sidekick and I was informed of a few other "niceties"; outside of a standard $6/mo insurance fee, the deductible is a whopping $130 to replace the device!
Then there is a $20/mo fee to support the Sidekick for fear of losing all stored information (e.g., phone book)?
This is how it was expressed to us - more fodder for me to switch to another service or another store.

Let us not forget the $18 "upgrade" fee.
And this is how TMO shows how much it values its customers.

Now I know where all of the used car salespeople have gone!
