RIM knows what they have, as it was built for at&t, at&t is holding it exclusive for one quarter only. Then, the CDMA and a crappier GSM version are expected for fourth quarter.

I will HIGHLY doubt Verizon will have this before next spring. VZ just released the CDMA version of the Curve, and the bold is pretty much an update of that device(full qwerty, 2 Meg Camera, blah blah), it would be completely uncharacteristic of VZ to do so, as well as make absolutly no sence what so ever. That said, VZ WILL be getting the thunder 3rd or 4th Quarter this year. This is Fact, not speculation as it came directly from the horses mouth.

I agree with you one hundred percent that verizon will prob not see this phone by the end of this year, but i also highly doubt that you will see the thunder in the third of fourth quarter. Verizon is the one network that takes the longest to get a phone approved and have it out into their retail outlets for sale. They have rigorous network test and many stipulations for new devices. having said that i also still cant believe that this "thunder" will be exclusive for verizon. When has RIM ever released a phone that was exclusive to one carrier for longer than one quarter. RIM is smart and know that ppl want there devices and on every service. It would be highly uncharacteristic for RIM to release it exclusivley on verizon, esp when att sells...

There will not be a CDMA version of this in 2008. Maybe by mid 2009 but I wouldn't hold my breath. att has the vast majority of the BB market and RIM values that relationship too much.

thunder will not be exclusive to VZ. They may get it but it will almost certainly go to att at the same time.

Not true, Verizon will be getting it exclusively at first but they will have a quota they must hit for it to remain exclusive. If that sales quota is not met RIM will be sharing the wealth with everybody else but we shall see what happens.

THIS PHONE IS NOT COMING TO VERIZON. VZW is getting the Thunder which is an all touch screen phone in the coming weeks- and in may will have the niagra. something possibly similar to the bold- but not quite.

I am a Verizon subscriber and want to stay with Verizon. I plan to upgrade to a BlackBerry from a Palm Treo 700p Verizon. I can do the upgrade anytime.
Would you advise waiting for the BlackBerry Bold or Thunder? Which one would be best? Given that the Thunder may come out first and the Bold might be seriously delayed, what would make sense?

I would highly recommend with one of the current BB since it appears this will be your first BB. I just made the switch from a TREO 700wx. I didn't have any issues and was just waiting for my upgrade period. However, my work phone has been a BB 8700 series with ATT and that one I can tell you because of the provider always gave us trouble. I have convince my office to switch to VERIZON and we will be purchasing the WORLDPHONE because it doesn't have a camera and my work doesn't allow it. My personal is a Curve and I am find it works well in doors and out doors. Having said all this, I am a believer in waiting for all the bugs to be worked out. And I am sure both of RIMS phones will come with some sort of problem - in particular with the...
