Anyone know of any awesome applications for the bb 8330? I have opera mini, google maps, and jive talk already. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of anything else. Thanks!

How is Opera Mini on the curve?
...
I like it a lot. I was terrible on the pearl. It made my phone crash all the time. I later heard that it was because of the pearls memory problem. With the curve I haven't run into this problem
...
Does it show full Graphics like it would on a regular computer or desktop?
...
Yeah it does. I'm using it right now and I can view everything just fine. Its free so try it out. If you don't like it you can always delete it. I'm sure you'll love it a whole lot more than the regular bb browser.
...
Thanks for the info I will try it out 🙂
...
downloading it as we speak

I put google maps on the VZW Pearl and it works really well, I like VZNav better but don't want to pay $9.99/mo for something I rarely use. It also works with GPS.
...
Sorry might be a dumb question but where are you guys downloading Google Maps from, and another quick question do any of you know were i can download a weather forecast for my Blackberry Curve for Verizon, THANKS
...
type www.google.com/gmm in your phones web browser that takes you directly to the download page 😉
...
how does Google maps work on the Curve if VZW disabled the GPS for everything other than their VZ Nav??
...
I don't know. I know it was said they disabled GPS on the Pearl except for VZNav but google maps works just fine for me. I think they may have only disabled it for BB Maps.
...
It works off tower triangulation. It basically bounces signals from multiple towers to your phone to estimate where you are located. It's like geometry. Googles is not as accurate as VZNav, not even close, but it will get you in the ball park and is still useful.

I have the sprint curve, and i still don't get an exact location. Does anyone know weather you have to enable GPS for google maps somewhere? BB maps locates me with GPS, but google gives an approximate location only.
...
google maps will only show you an approximate location so to me its better to use BB maps or sprint navigation. BB maps is awesome by the way, very exact.
...
If you want an exact location you would have to use an external bluetooth GPS unit or purchase your carriers GPS monthly service. Those are the options. If you shop for GPS bluetooth receivers you can find them for a modest price. The most expensive doesn't mean the best. There is no free lunch with GPS. The nice thing about VZNav is it combines GPS with a yellow pages basically. If you want to find a restaurant you search and it will list them in order of closeness to your current location. It's not perfect in it's yellow page type feature as it would be nice to be comprehensive in its listings, yet there is nothing to compare to it. And when they get the new VZNav 4.0 to work with the Curve it will be even better.
