Few questions

Hello everyone,

I was hoping you could help me with a Pearl question...

1. A sprint store employee told me it was a horrible phone to use for text messaging is this true? She said I had to enter the phone number plus the @ CELLPROVIDER.com to get a text message out. Is this true?

2. Can you watch youtube type videos on this phone?

3. Is the internet on the phone the actual web or the mobile version of the web?

4. Finally, if someone sends me one of those animated picture mail messages... does it animate? I have the Treo 700p and the messages never animate...

This looks like a beautiful phone and I thank you all for reading this and helping me out before I buy it!!!

The Pearl is far more difficult to write text or emails on as the the keys are "shared" unlike most BB keypads. I had one for about 2 days and had to switch back to my 8700c. It was a shame, as I really liked the device, but I couldn't deal with each key having 2 letters and spending the time to choose which one I wanted to use. I have the curve 8310 now and really like it.

untrue...suretype works like a charm...the above poster sounds like they were using multitap. Also, text messaging is the same as on any other phone...

okay... I did see how the keys were two to a key. I think the only thing I'd have to get used to is not being able to use the touchscreen... I like my Palm 700p for that reason... I just hate how disabled the internet is on these "smart"phones.

Thanks for the quick reply!

My experience is that SureType also requires that choices be made rather than simply typing. I do agree that the text messages are sent using the same method as other Blackberry's, they are sent to phone numbers as is standard unless you are trying to send it to a specific address. BlackBerry has a demo on their site that shows the options for typing on a Pearl.

Tell her she needs a new job, what is she talking about when she says you need to type the cellprovider.com to text? Does Sprint actually train these morans?

She said something like to text or use picture mail you have to type their number 5555555555@verizon.com or 5555555555@messaging.sprintpcs.com to send it out. You couldn't just type their number in...

The phone looks beautiful and I like the size but she did everything she could to talk me out of it. I own the Palm 700p and she told me to stick with it cause it was a better phone.

What are your impressions of it? Is the internet actually good on it and can you see animated picture mail and things like that?

wow I got it because Sprint gave it to me for free. I do not use the internet or email, I do text on it and all you do is type the number in and click send sms text. I think the phone is great if you utilize the options. You can buy mine🙂 its RED
