Save yourself some frustration and get the update. The update gets me email notifications at the same time my blackberry does.

Wow dam that's pretty good. It gets pushed to the Voyager just like email gets to a Blackberry? Sweet.!

Of course the blackberry is more consistant after several tries. But I do find that my blackberry 8830 and voyager chime at the same time. it is pretty awesome. In low coverage areas I find that it missed a chime but otherwise it is okay.

WOw that's pretty cool so the Voyager's $5/month email service works just like a push email service like PDA's work then? Am I understanding this correctly? DO you think it's worth it or just easier to manually check email via the web browswer?

its more than worth the $5. after your alert, push one button and you are at your email page. i have windows live and it worked perfect/ until the alerts stopped.
I'm off today to get the update.

You are forgetting to point out 2 key things:

1. You cannot click on links in your email and go to a webpage on the Voyager and you can on a blackberry.

2. You cannot get attachments on the voyager.

Very important items if you ask me.

the software update didn't help with the email alerts. support is working on it and are suppose to call me.
SForsyth01----no one said anything about going to the web or to attachments. we were talking about checking email and getting them pushed to your screen with an alert.

I was responding to the person that said the program was well worth the money. I was saying that I don't feel it is worth it because it doesn't allow the user to access attachments or weblinks that are in the email.

Try going to your options in your e-mail and look for the alerts. You should be able to check the box. Hope that helps.

I am fairly certain that for internet and email on the Voyager it is $20/month ($5 for email and $15 for unlimited internet). That makes it $20/month. The same on the BB is $30, but the Blackberry gives you attachments and ability to click links and go to a website from an email.

I'm not trying to bash anything here. I have just done alot of research on this because I am upgrading in a month and trying to decide between the Blackberry 8830 and the Voyager.

Exactly, this is why I have the blackberry. Please don't get me wrong; the voyager is not a blackberry replacement. It is cool to have alerts pushed to you when you get an email and it is cool to not have to take 2 phones with you on your days off or when you go to a movie.

Get a blackberry if you can't live without email. Get the voyager to check your email from time to time.

Very well put. And that is one of the reasons I am torn on which to get. They Voyager has espn mvp, mobile tv, a camera, and touchscreen. The blackberry 8830 has all of the important email features though, but without a camera. I don't know what I am going to do.

And before you say it, the pearl isn't an...

Why not get both then? For me, it means spending 30 bucks more. Its a luxury that I enjoy but I don't know how long I will have it that way. The "toilet tv" is awesome (that is probably the only time I watch it) and all of the other features I will enjoy. I need the multimedia so my fam can get my pic texts.

On the other hand, if you go to handango.com you will see the the 8830 can be equiped with all of the extras you can wrap you hand around.

That isn't an option. That would be at least an extra 200 for a phone plus $30 additional per month on top of the $79.99 I would pay for the Voyager every month. I just need to pick between them, and I'm leaning toward the voyager right now.
