Updates to the phone

My main question is if LG/VZW is going to support the phone and continually provide fixes/updates to it... OR are they just going to release it and develop more new phones and never bother with it. If that is the case, then I'm not sure I'll get one.

My two cents.

The main issue that the software update fixes is dealing with 6GB and 8GB cards. The software version goes from VX10KV03 to VX10KV05.

besides just the memory card issues it should also help improve battery life. updates for the html browser and there will also be a touchscreen update of some sort. they haven't released exactly what the touchscreen updates fixes. there were a couple smaller issues the sw fixes but i can't remember them all

nope. it's an actual firmware (operating system) update so you have to go to a store and leave it for 45 mins to an hour. be sure to backup your personal data. ( contacts pictures videos etc. ) use the backup assistance program available through get it now. thats how i have my contacts backed up.

I agree completely. Back up assistant is a wonderful thing. Backs everthing up so when yo switch phones or something happens, nothing is ever lost. I highly recommend it!

phire2050,

Just called 3 stores and they all say that they haven't gotten an email about a software update and a few stores told me it would be at least 2 months before there is an update. Other forums are saying that the only update coming soon is for the memory card issue.

hey phire2050,

Someone on HOFO said that after he updated, now whenever he tries to access the browser from the touch screen the phone resets, and now the only way to access the browser is from the inside screen?

Can you confirm/deny?

Thanks!

I did the update on my phone today at work and I must say, everything that was posted is all accurate. The enhancements, even those that are little (like the update to the default start page), all help to make the phone that much better.

As for the comment above about the phone now only being able to be launched from the inside and it resetting if launched from the outside... not true. Maybe that person's phone is defective, but the phone does not crash.

It's funny, though. In all the documents and e-mails that we received the software update only states that it fixes the 6GB and 8GB memory card issues for those that were using Windows Media Player 10 and 11. It mentions nothing about the other updates.

I'm worried that the update my affect my ability to stream. After going through so many hoops to get this ability, I want to make sure the update doesn't take it away. Can anyone verify this?

Thanks!
