I love having a qwerty keyboard on the inside for texts. I also like the fact of using the touch qwerty on the external when you are on the internet. However, is there a way to text using the qwerty instead of the numberpad version on the external screen?
...
Nope I don't think so. The only way to text on the outisde is the same as the enV. Using ABC or T9 MOde. it's a regular keypad on the outside.

Hmmmm, I'm wondering about that, as I saw a photo of a Voyager (while looking for Voyager wallpaper pictures on Yahoo) that showed one with a landscaped-oriented touch screen Qwerty keyboard on the external screen. I haven't found a way, or heard anyone say there is, but seeing that makes me sort of wonder. Especially since it looked like an actual photo.
Let us know if anyone figures it out.

I think this has to do with whether the application is hard-coded as portrait or landscape. Browser, for example, is in landscape mode, so you get a soft qwerty keyboard on the external screen. Text messaging is portrait so you get the abc/123/t9 interface because qwerty won't fly in portrait mode.
Minor gripe. I don't mind the numberpad approach for text on the xternal screen (it's easy enough to flip open if it's a more complex deal), but since the display only shows letters or numbers, it makes the mnemonics impossible. For example, to text to google calendar, they suggest GVENT as a mnemonic device, but it's really just a number. When you look at the number pad, you cant see the corresponding letters. If you enter GVENT as an address...

what does this google calendar allow you to do? I know that google has the short cut where you can look up a movie theatre or food or something by texting googl without the e and in the body of the message put pizz hut and then your zip code for instance, but what other cool features do they have?

Mostly, it's a web-based calendar app as opposed to one on the desktop. Since I use as many as 4 computers, I avoid investing too much in desktop apps that aren't easily syncd. Google calendar is like most calendars (e.g. outlook)but has more flexibility in sharing across multiple devices and also sharing calendars and events with others. Google alendars can also be embedded in web pages with some html code. Since the browser app has access to the google calendar, I don't really need the one on the phone, although the new version of Bitpim now supports calendar, contact and other sync options with voyager via the usb cable or bluetooth.

So is this Bitpim thing really that great? I hear a lot of people talking about it, but I guess I am just weiry of linking all of my phones info to some website...and as far as the calender, I am just trying to figure out something to use other than what is on the voyager because I am switching from the Treo and that is one of the only things I miss and I work for the fire deptartmet and we do 24 hour shifts so our schedule is really crazy and I need a good way to keep up with things?
...
The voyager is not a pda. The Treo is. If the Treo serves your calandar needs, you probably won't be satisfied with the voyager.

The QWERTY keyboard only pops up on the outside screen when using the HTML browser.
