ringers.... until they upgrade bitpim

Alright... the Verizon servers don't allow most messages with an MP3/MID attachment through from an e-mail address anymore... and BitPim doesn't have the Voyager listed yet...

...so this was my solution.

Assuming that you have one of the new plans that allows unlimited text/pix messages (not that it matters, I think messaging yourself would be considered "IN messaging":

1. connect your phone to your computer by bluetooth

2. take your clip (I wouldn't recommend over 30 seconds per ringer) and drag'n'drop it on the OBEX File Transfer service. It should copy the clip right into your Sounds on the phone.

3. go to the My Sounds section under Get it Now > Music & Tones...

4. find the sound that you want as a ringer...

5. g...

also.... I haven't tried it, but if you have a memory card you should be able to take the MP3's and just dump them right into the my_sounds folder on the card and then go from there.. making it a little bit faster than sending over bluetooth...

....which is also good if some of you don't have BT on your computer.

OR.....You can just uee the 8700 or 8550 settings on bitpim. If you use the 8700 after the transfer the phone will generate an error message. Just pull the battery reinsert and ENJOY!!! Thats how I got mine to work. The 8550 xferd all my contacts over. 😁

hrm.. I like my way.. but if that works then awesome 🙂

as for contacts, I had a treo before this.. so I just went to outlook and bluetoothed al 135 contacts in one go.. it did them back-to-back, no problem. It was utterly painless. 😁

Either way works. Your way sounds good to...plus it wont give you an error message that will make you crap yourself (like I almost did) I havnet had a chance to use the bluetooth yet put I'll probably do that today. I got the stereo headset and look forward to watching some tube while waiting for the food toget ready. Everyone always hogs the TV at my house so it'll be nice watching w/o annoying anyone else lol...

Good post

Heck yeah... we have sat in all the rooms here.. but someone is always playing a videogame or talking.. and even with the relatively nasty signal in my place, the vcast tv still works just about perfectly...

I just can't wait for BitPim to come out with official support.. I had around 250 ringers on my card and maybe 80 of them installed on my treo.. I'm gonna miss the ease. But this thing is pretty no-nonsense.

Happy Voyaging.. LOL.. see what I did there? yeah. ;)

How do you send calendar and contacts from outlook to the voyager via bluetooth? I don't see the option.

I don't know about calandar options... but with contacts I just selected them all and then clicked on the File menu, then went down to Send to Bluetooth > other. Then I put my phone as visible and when outlook found it, you just click on it and hit OK.

It will send all of them in one push. It takes a while if you have 100+ contacts (as I do.. 135 to be exact).

It will automatically save all the contacts to the phone... but it will still pop up with a review window "view now" and "view later".

Hope this works for you.

OK, tanks. Didn't show up before, but perhaps it wasn't properly paired. This is working now.

Did as you said...........8700..........added the ring tones I wanted and everything went perfect 🙂

What I did need to do was to load JUST the lg modem driver off the VCast CD that came with the phone. All went well after that.

Thanks so much for your info and have a Great Turkey Day 🙂🙂🙂
