IM Kinda in a pickle....not sure what to do..i recently went from having a Palm Treo 700p to having a Blackberry 8703e, but now im contemplating whether or not I want to take Verizon up on their 30 day offer and switch to a 8830. Im a bit apprehensive because the customer reviews that the 8703e gets are far better than that of the 8830. The main reason I want make the switch is because the 8830 seems to have more features than the 8703. Plus I feel the 8703e is better suited for the Bussiness type and IM not there yet. I love surfing the browser, receiving emails, so I think the 8830 would be a little more fun....Can anyone let me know what they think? Thank you for reading all this!

it sounds like your mind is part of the way made up...

If your already thinking about switching, maybe its not a bad idea to just make the move and try the 8830.

However, the phones are extremely similar, go to the store and play with both and just do what feels right.

the biggest difference to me is the trackball...but i dont have too much experience with the trackball vs. scroll wheel.

Trackball is much better. It's got a lot more control, plus, with Opera web browser for BB you can use the Trackball as a mouse. Sweet!

I had the 8703 and just moved up to the 8830. I reviewed the 8830 and I was more thorough there, but here are a few things ...

The trackball is the key to this device, it often "activates" a small menu which seems to only offer the most useful options, and includes a "full menu" option.

There is another nice convenience in that when setting an appointment in the calender you are afforded the opportunity to "invite attendees" ala MS Outlook. It makes things TOO easy.

However, the "Convenience Key" (only one as compared to the 8703's two) seems to be easier to get to and I bump it nearly every time I stick it back in the holster.

The keyboard will take some getting used to. I use it all the time IM'ing my wife (currently servi...

The 8830 is much more attractive in my opinion. I do feel the 8703e's keyboard is better than the 8830's though.
