I see it is listed that some models will offer PTT. Is it possible that on the Sprint version that we could see Nextel Direct Connect?

No, that would require iDEN, which would mean an additional radio and antenna. It's enough that this phone has GSM, CDMA and Bluetooth. Adding iDEN as well would be a massive challenge (and make it a different phone.)

The 8830 can only support software-based PTT. In theory it might be able to support Verizon's PTT or Sprint's ReadyLink, but I kind of doubt it will support either. Alltel's Touch2Talk would be more likely, if Alltel picks up this model.

Or you can get a ATT/Cingular Blackberry Pearl or Blackberry 8800. Both of these phones has the "Push to Talk" feature.
