I cant get a gps signal opn the phone HELP
I cant get a gps signal eaither with windows live or google maps what am i DOING WRONG. I have the vx6800. I turned on my location instead of 911. What else do i need to do?

This phone is not GPS capable at this point. You can only use an external GPS. Supposedly when the new revision comes out in the first quarter of this year, GPS will be enable. The hardware is already in the phone, but it is not enabled.

Im sorry how will I enable it to work on my phone? Will I have to pay for it? Or will it be a download? How will I know it is avaiable?

Trust me, you will know when it is available, just keep watching these forums. It will be a download. but I am quite sure you will have top pay to use the GPS features, as you do on any other phone. It is supposed to also have RevA. faster than EVDO.... I have the link from sprint somewhere that talks about it. Here it is

It will probably work with google maps fine. But personally I think google maps suck. I used a different program on my other phone which I had to pay $9.95 a month for. You won't be charged to get the revision.

You will have to wait for the upgrade. The GPS is not activated in the current version.

The Program is called TeleNav. It won't work until we get the new revision and the GPS starts working in our phones. Until then you have to get an external GPS or just be S.O.L. like the rest of us....lol

jk jk but yep, both Sprint and VZ users are patiently waiting! I got mine in June, they first said the update would come Summer '07...they then said Fall '07...then Winter '07 now they're saying Q1 '08
I dunno what to believe but it DOES activate the GPS and make it Rev-A. (mostly affects Upload speeds) the download is free to all subscribers through either a link or visiting a retail store (Sometime this year) if you use it with Google Maps or Live Search it won't work. like they've said, because its not enabled. its kinda like you've been given a car, but no gas to make it run 😉
but lets just hope the gas starts punping! lolz 😁
