According to Engadget, which sourced PPCGeeks and it's user VerizonGuy... The xv6800 has a November 16th hard release date set with a potential soft release on the web Nov 2nd, which is the same day that the Samsung i760 is officially hitting the retail channel.

sadly...i WAS excited but have really been all excited out. No way I am getting this now, just doesn't interest me anymore. I wanted this 6 months ago when it was new, but now its kinda old when compared to the rest of the phones out there, oh well.

No one believes me and I do hope I am wrong. Spoke to VZW rep on phone this past week. I then went to a diff store to speak to another rep I personally know.

Both said the 6800 was taken off the 2007 list and by all the info, it will show up in early 08. Hope it is not true, but heard it from 2 stores and 2 different people. We shall see....

Messed with Samsung I760-decent phone but placement of keys that you would press to select a function on bottom right/left of screen is strange. Also the keys to dial via number on the front are a bit small but they work. Had no freeze ups but only played with phone for 30 minutes.

Not a giant fan of Windows Mobile 6. Also no built in app that I saw for email. Perhaps there is 3rd party. Tried...

The i760 has been good to me thus far. I was waiting for the 6800, but just got frustrated. At first I thought that the keys were a little strange as well, but over 2 weeks I have gotten better at using them. Just like I got better at using the TREO. I would have liked it a whole lot better if there was a scroll wheel on the side, going back and forth from the D-pad and the OK button is annoying.

Interface with the web is good, and have not had any freezes yet. Battery life could be better, but they sell the phone with a standard and an extended life.

Overall it is a good phone, and honestly I like that it has a number pad on the front. That way you don't have to pull out the stylus or get your screen covered in fingerprints everytime ...

Thanks. I did ask on the I760 forum if there was Voice dialing on the I760.

Also if there was a program (did not find one on I760) to check your email. I used the Yahoo web mail interface which is horrible and always has been

Thanks

I did the same thing... gave up on the Mogul and picked up the i760. I'm happy as a clam with it so far.

Judging by the reviews so far from Sprint users, VZ is probably waiting for all the kinks to be ironed out before they release it. They're still pushing the 6700 right along.

I just finished reading several Sprint complaint threads. For all you folks complaining about VZW not releasing it...REJOICE that they delayed it. The Sprint 6800 is currently a POS.

I am going to return my i760 and go back to my E815 until they get a good PDA/phone out with WM6.

What kind of complaints did you see on the Sprint thread?

If you want perfection, it isn't gonna happen with this phone or any others, I find the Mogul to be pretty damned good.

Perfection not required. Functional Bluetooth...absolute necessity.

Google "htc sprint mogul bluetooth problem" and set aside an hour to read.

TONS of complaints about the BT problem are on multiple forums with HTC and Sprint passing the buck back and forth, supposedly working on a fix. One "fix" came out, fixed some things and broke others, and was pulled.

Problems with .NET applications and the keyboard, supposedly fixed by using an Alltel driver.

Problems with alarm not working if phone is on charger and turned off.

I am hoping that VZW is going to have the problems fixed when (if?) they (finally) release the XV6800.

Spoke to a Verizon associate who gave me an online release date of Nov 28th, and an in-store release date of Dec 5th. Let's hope these are true!

The Verizon Rep told me Nov 24th for an online release and Dec. 1st for the store release. He also gave me an upgrade price of $399.
My girlfriend uses this phone on a GSM network in Europe, and it is definately a must have!

The VX6700 is currently listed as 'out of stock' on the VZW site. I think that's good news.
