I think MS in all its "wisdom" *cough* makes you have "payed" account to be able to forward or use your hotmail elsewhere.
I wont stake my life on it, but I even try to get hotmail to forward to my Outlook and it wouldn't do it about 6mo ago. So unless something has changed recently, I think you have to pay to get that feature.

I think I had to pay $19 for the year. But it was well worth it. Works like a charm. And was very easy.

You'll need a real email service that supports either POP3 or IMAP and SMTP. Hotmail supports neither pop3 nor IMAP. Google, AIM, AOL, and Yahoo! Offer free email with IMAP support. There are also others.

Mail forwarding and direct POP3 or IMAP are not the same. There are third parties that will help with mail forwarding.

I am an attorney and have many, many saved e-mails on Hotmail. I have set up a Yahoo account, but want to transfer all of my saved e-mails to Yahoo. So far, I have tried the TrueSwitch service, but although it transferred my contacts it did not transfer my e-mails as advertised. Does anyone know how I could transfer my saved e-mails (about 900) to my new Yahoo account so that I could have everything accessible to an iPhone?
