I was trying to activate my iPhone and i got a message saying that. Why is that? And when will my iphone be activated??

That sounds like the normal message at the end of the activation process. Actual time to completion depends upon the number of activations going through the switch, but normally it's supposed to be pretty quick (normally a few minutes).
Though, today being day 1... it might be a little bogged down.
