existing customers??

will i be able to purchase the phone with out extending my contract and just adding the data plan with unlimited text?? or do i have to agree to a 2 year extension on my contract?

if i read the news article correctly, you need to sign a contract either way. it's in the news archive.

When you activate the iPhone through iTunes you will have to extend your contract for 2yrs. The iPhone will not activate without it.

thats stupid i still have over a year left in my contract and dont want to extend for another two years thats kinda lame but now i really have to think about do i really want this phone or not.

i was just watching the activation video on apple.com and it didnt mention anything about extending your contract for another two years it just showed picking your plans if you were new or existing customer.

yes in order to use the phone it will require both the data plan and extending a contract for 2 years....since the phone wont be subsidized your upgrade date will still be available whenever it currently was schedule to eligible....

When you extend your contract you CANT go past 2 years. If your extend you will be BACK to 2 years thats all. And yes everyone is elgible.

thats pretty lame. Ive been eligible for a new phone since march, but i held out cos i didnt want a 4 year agreement. I should go upgrade right now and get a blackjack for 3G....

Maybe I'm reading what you're saying wrong. However I believe you only renew for a total of 2 years. Not 2 years plus the bal. on your existing contract. 😉
