i read in an interview the sim card will be housed in the top of the iphone. in the video apple put out about the iphone they show a little slot on the top of the iphone. the video does not say what it is for but i think underneath that little cover you put the sim card. just my guess 🙂

the sim is accessible via sim try on the top of the phone. Steve even says so in his keynote. watch the youtube link I provided. Steve Jobs is showing the controls on the phone and gets to the top. He points out the headphone jack, and then says " we've got a place, a tray, for your sim card"

Information from Apple would suggest that there is an internal "SIM tray."

Yes the tray comes out so you can put another sim card in. they cant lock one inside the phone. what if the sim card was defective and needed to be replaced ?

Everyone's saying the same thing. Everyone seems to agree about the SIM "tray" on top, so let's not argue over the definition of the word "internal". 😉

i am not arguing about it. i just think it would be unpractical to have it locked inside the phone.

Well ill let somebody unlock the stupid thing first. And get that AT@T locked up software off of it to. Justa generic apple software is good enough for me. I think these Carriers should leave the software to the manufactures. And then spend all that money NOT to be able to put your own home made ringtones? Naw ill wait.

Well that does it for me! I read that it doesnt have a removable sim. NO WAY on Gods green earth am i gonna buy a $600 phone and cant use it as i please. I should be able to switch carriers with my phone if AT&t starts acting up. So as far as im concerned i will be the first to admit i was wrong and this phone kisses sweaty balls. 😢

AT&T locks all of there phones to only there network. just like T-mobile does to there phones so the iphone is not the only phone that cant be used on other networks.and the phone has a removable sim. maybe if the phone can be unlocked you can switch carriers.

maybe if the phone can be unlocked? Have you heard of a phone that can't be unlocked? it's just a matter of time until someone figures out how to do that, or maybe there's an option to enter an unlock code. I konw if you call motorola they'll give you an unlock code for any of thier phones.

not YET. I'm sure motorola won't provide the unlock code for new phones that come out. eventually, they might. but this is besides the point, because nobody's really sure on how the sim works yet. I've heard this and that, so we'll see friday, huh?
