Sure is alot of people with Verizon and Sprint all bent outta shape about this phone so much they gotta talk crap about it. I know that even though Sprint and Verizon has EVDO built out and it will take AT&T awile to catch up if they ever do but face it. Your Phones are crap. And your stuck with the choice you made . Get over it. The iphone with no 3g is better than any 3g crap that Verizon or sprint has to offer. Im not planing on getting one cause i waiting on The SE to drop later this year. But i might get one Just to have it. I hope they come out with an unlocked Version.

First off any Sprint or Verizon smartphone can do everything the iPhone can do and more and only cost you half the price. Second of all you completely validated my point by saying you might get one just to have it. How does that make sense to people? But you did get it right when you said your stuck with the choice you made and hopefully people will remember that when they realize they just wasted $600

People that are bashing the Iphone ,are just HATERS.They're just mad that the phone is a multi-year exclusivity with AT&T and they won't be able to buy one themselves for whatever reasons.
I bet you those people are with Verizon and Sprint with those damn cdma phones that are so crippled: BT,ugly UI,mp3 ringtones, unable to use their phones overseas,BREW,unable to buy any unlocked phones, stuck w/ what the carrier offers them,no SIM cards to switch between phones without the carrier knowing, etc...
Can't wait to stop by at my local VZ wireless and Circuit City stores to show off my new "baby".

LoL, amazing. Run sheep run.

Id love to see you iPhone at my store, I will then as you how your COVERAGE is and then you will run away with your tail between your legs.

Face it, GSM may be the global standard, but is slowly GOING AWAY. Japan is already testing with CDMA to replace, YES REPLACE, their aging GSM networks.

Anyway, good luck with your new phone, I will donate an extra $300 to apple's profits buy buying an ipod with video, but if you like your phone isnt that all that matters?

I will sleep the same wether apple makes a few more million, will you knowing that you paid straight to profits?

Yeah.... that is why CDMA needs twice to three times as many towers to get similar coverage.

Be careful when you say silly things here..

GSM has an effective range of just a few miles.. It requires many times the towers to work especially in rural areas.

CDMA phones can reach out 15 miles when they have to to make calls to the less towers that are needed to work.

Look ,the deal is such that GSM is not as good as CDMA and never will be but it's close and with the awesome phones on Cingular, I who love VZW would consider switching to get an awesome phone like Iphone or the Curve which I am testing right now.

It is also triangulation of towers. Ever noticed how CDMA towers have three triangular antennaes, where GSM circle the whole tower? At least in my area there is about 4 GSM towers. We also have Sprint, Verizon, and a local crap Inland Cellular. There are many, many more CDMA towers at least three fold and I still have less drop calls on my GSM service. That is what I am basiong my OPINION on not what some theoretical limit is. Do a tower search on 83501 in ID and you will see what I mean. I am sorry my OPINION still does not match the CDMA God's.

I agree totally.
It will be the teenie-boppers or the WANNABE hipsters who will be buying this phone.

Those people consist of anyone who was picked on or otherwise ignored in High School. All they want to do is prove they have turned into a 'someone' and they are no longer 'THAT' person.

Sad, but apple has hit a JACKPOT with these people.

I was kinda one of them, but I have 'ACTUALLY' grown and can see what is before me now, so I will not be purchasing one of these units ANY time.

The point of the matter is different and conveniance...people pay a lot of money for outdated technology all the time. Every time you pay 3000 for a laptop its obsolite when you buy it. There will always be something better out in a few months...my question is why not this phone? I realize it doesnt have all the features and its not all its cracked up to be, but the fact of the matter is its a pretty cool phone. The HSPDA doesn't matter because its got Wifi so who cares, plus you dont have to pay the unlimited data pack. No one has this touch screen interface and everyone by now is comfortable with itunes and has a million on their comp. So why not try it out. It looks fun and 90% of what we sell is based on the looks especially in to...

they don't insure high end phones for att. they do for sprint, verizon, and alltel. get the facts straight. plus there will be a data plan required to purchase the phone. to me the features wouldn't make me happy, i like have wcdma. along with the faster data speeds, which is more widespread than wifi, you also carry voice calls over the 3g network. study a little bit next time. :-)

asurion doesnt insure the high end devices for at&t because at&t is the actual insurance company and asurion is the provider (basically just a call center for insurance claims). verizon, sprint and alltel are not the insurance companies leaving asurion to make the judgement calls on what to insure and what not to insure.

correction: AT&T and T-Mobile know that you're switching in between phones when you switch your sim. The phone's IMEI (or serial number) is trasmitted to the carrier and put on a list under your account, so they know how many IMEI's you've had, and they can tell what phone it is, and if you stole it or not.
Just FYI.

You don't travel much do you? Japan is hardly world domination.

And AFIK, only KDDI is using CDMA in Japan. The others are using WCDMA, including NTT DoCoMo, who developed WCDMA.

Your funny. The coverage is about the same for Verizon and AT&T as they are the #1 and #2 carriers. On the other hand Verizons phones are locked down to where you cant do anything with the POS phones they have. Where the rest of the world and here in the states people who enjoy the GSM world have the option of having a phone the carrier doesn't carry. And to me its none of their business.

The craptastic software the carriers put on the phones they carry locks down the phone so they can nickel and dime you for everything. So enjoy Verizon and all the wonderfull phones they have wile the rest who know and those who are finding out everyday enjoy the freedom of gsm.

what are you talking about? Straight to profits? Obviously a company is trying to profit otherwise they wouldn't make a product but when someone buys an iphone for $600 it isn't going to be profit, especially at first. It takes a ton of money and a ton of balls to produce 3 million of these things, it's going to be revolutionary.

If I were you I would look at where AT&Tingular use that 850 band which is in CANADA MOSTLY. The few parts of the states that they use the 850 band are rural areas where their 1900 band is crappy.
