I do not know what or who to believe. I went into my local VzW corporate store this afternoon. They have the 8700's in stock, BUT cannot release them until they get the quote 'quirks' worked out, and THAT WAS A QUOTE! What should I/we do if this is true? I spent $349 full boat price for mine. When I call VzW directly, I always get some lame excuse. Believe this, tech support at VzW suggested that I call LG. Soooooo I called LG in Huntsville Al., and they admitted there are little bugs, but too soon to tell for any flash downloads. I suppose the logical thing is to say a very sad bye bye, and return it to VzW until all parties get all the little 'quirks' ironed out. It is a GREAT phone. Maybe if Vzw would have left it alone to LG fa...

What exactly are the quirks you speak of? I know of the text not chaning properly based on what option you choose. What else?

I can report that after a week of use I have had no problems and to address the one issue you mention above, my speakphone sounds fine.

Another quirk or bug that I found is that if you have *82 stored in front of the numbers in your phonebook, the name will not display when that person calls you; it will only display their phone number. If you take the *82 out, the name will display correctly. If you have your number blocked, but want it to display it for some people, this bug becomes a nuisance. Not a deal breaker by any means, but I do hope they fix it. I have called LG twice, and supposedly, my concern was put in their "suggestion box." My old VX8000 did not have this issue.

LG & VZW have been a real pain-in-the rear lately. Both lie and swear it's the others fault. Either LG phones are not what they used to be or VZW if screwing them up badly. Maybe it's time for a change. My last 4 phones have been LG and have had problems with all of them, especially the bluetooth.

This normal...This always happens with new models, there will always be a few little quarks that will be ironed out later with software flash, just look at the 8300, razr and other models. Don't let it get to you or worry you, these little quarks that get by initial testing not fatal and will cause you little headache 99.9% of the time. Also remember some reps will sway you by saying crap like this, maybe ther is a moto or samsung spiff going on...who knows but I wouldn;t worry about the software, this phone is no different then any other new phone entered into the lineup

Well I have owned many LG's with Verizon and this one is the best one so far. Good build quality, fast GUI and great camera. I have owned it for a week and had zero problems. The Moto Maxx is nice but the standard VZW menu is a killer for me. LG is the only way to go to get a decent menu. I highly recomend the VX8700! 😁

it will be on here i am sure, but so far i have not heard of any critical bugs so we could be months before any software updates come out. But like what i said, don't worry about it, your phone might lock up once or randomely shut off or something stupid but you shouldn't have any major malfunctions, critical issues are usually worked out before launch

I had to call yesterday to VZW tech support for my phone not being able to format the memory card. After nearly an hour of trying numerous ways and options, the tech said he's gonna call LG and see what's going on.... A Flash update may be released sooner than anticipated for the current phones. But they may hold selling them in stores longer to flash all the ones they currently have in stock before they sell them.... Just an FYI....

Yeah I even tried 2 other cards and it kept doing the same thing. I would hit format, it would start working and then say "FAILED". I made sure the card was empty on the PC, and try again. Same result. I tried to take a pic and save it to the card and it said the card was full....? I'm completely confused....

It appears as if there is a bad batch of phones out there as I picked the phone up yesterday from the store and when I'm on a call, the volume is low and I hear static all the time.

Will be swapping for another one today.

Keep changing your phone out til you get one that works.

I just picked one up today too and it's clear as a bell. You're right, some are good, some not. Same as with any other new phone. We go through this everytime a new one comes out. I'm sure I'll find my own quirks in the next 30 days. If I don't get the Blackberry 8830 I think I'll stay with this one though. The only think that may have been better to wait for was the real shine bit that's not due until October from what I hear.
