External screen access

I couldn't find any button on the outside that would activate the external screen. Anybody know if it has one? It may be because the display model kept it from closing all the way although I don't remember that problem with other display phones.

Hold down the side buttons for about 2 seconds or until it lights up.

I guess that's why. My current phone is so old it just responds instantly.
