My understanding is that this phone will come with 2 batteries in the box...due to poor battery life.

it comes with 2 batteries and a battery-only charger as well as a normal phone charger. only bad thing is they decided to NOT put a mini-usb port on the phone.. so you're using some proprietary crap

Battery life is really bad dog. Can only go about 10 hours with limited use.

For the people who have taken it upon themselves to "slaughter" the motorola Q...I want to respond to this very important point...My Q gives me 8 days on standby...7 hours constant talk time on ONE extended battery........no need to ship multiple batteries if you have your.... together. The blackjack may have some great features, but dragging the innovators at Motorola through this petty mud is like having a conversation on AOL...nauseating.

I just ordered an Samsung extended battery for the Blackjack ... The only site I have found it on is Wireless Galaxy. Looks like it has 50% more power than the standard battery.

I returned my Blackjack after three days of not heavy usage. Great phone, but lousy battery life. I had to swap the battery 4 times during the day. This phone is not usable with the EXTREMELY short battery life. I waited 5 months for this phone to hit the market. Needless to say, I was frustrated that it is not usable in daily life. The looks will lure you in, but atleast I warned you.

I charged completely and swapped it out yesterday morning. Used it all day yesterday and all day today. Battery died about 6 this evening and I popped the second one in from the external charger. It's a little inconvenient but manageable.

I have the extended battery that I ordered from Samsung direct. Don't forget you need to order the new battery cover too. It's great and makes the BJ the perfect phone. Long life on the batt .

Update: the local Cingular rep gave me a whole new phone (rather than just batteries). Suddenly I can run for an entire day no problem. The rep suspected I had a bad device.

This might mean that a significant portion of people who I see on this forum, Howards, Cingular, et. al. have also received bad batteries or a bad device right out of the box...

What else could explain the stark contrast in battery life experiences you see on all the forums?

Finally, I also tried the extended battery/cover and the battery life on that is GREAT. However the replacement battery cover uniformly increases your phone's thickness to the thickness at the camera lens (because it covers the entire back of the phone), and the phone is noticeably heavier....

Update on my replacement phone --

With moderate use (talk and 3G):
- Regular battery: 1.5 days
- Extended battery: 3 days

If your phone is getting significantly less battery life (like mine was) go back and ask for a replacement phone.

Only 6-8 hours standby on one battery? It's not you -- it's your device. At least that's my conclusion...

Glad it worked out. I knew there was something wrong with the unit. I'll probably try the extended battery myself, Thanks.
