how to turn off 3g

MENU, SETTINGS, CONFIG. , CONNECTION , Then go down to Packet DATA. Then change packet data conn. from WHEN AVALIABLE, to WHEN NEEDED. There ya go. 😁

Not sure what you think it does when you perform your suggested actions. Mine would vary back-and-forth from "GSM" to "3G" before the change by walking around the house, and make identical transitions after changing it. What's the point ...?

Actually this doesn't turn it off. It just keeps it from being on all the time. Being on all the time is what was probably causing the excessive battery drain.

Has anybody seen any gains in the battery life as as a result of that setting change?

Some people on Howard forum have reported a dramatic increase. I only changed my setting yesterday afternoon so too early to tell for me.

It stands to reason that the battery life would increase. The data connection was always on with the default setting.
