If when adding a memory card to this phone does it extended the video capturing past 15 secs?

You can extend the video length without the memory card. The phone will come with about 45MB of free memory on board. Start Camcorder -> Go to options -> Scroll over to the rectangles with two set of dots (one row on top and one on bottom) -> There you will see linit to MMS and Normal. Select Normal and you can record until you memory is full.
Hope this helps. Putting the Memory card in will just give you more storage capacity.
