CNet Review - Fact or Fiction?

The Cnet review for the Treo 750 says the phone is the first Treo that will work on Cingular's 3G UMTS network. But then it says that they are disappointed that "it will not support Cingular's HSPDA network at launch."

Is this true? And if so what does it mean? That we wont be cruising along at 3G speeds with email and web browsing?\

And if so, when will it support the HSPDA network?

You'll get 3G speeds now and approximately double that with HSPDA. It's my understanding that the hold up is software support on the 750, not the network. I doubt it will be more than a couple of months before they get t...

Thanks, that is helpful.

But where do you get the new software once it is rolled out? From Cingular? From Palm? From a Third Party?

There is a hack that will enable HSDPA on the treo available now. I have been usingn it for a month with no problems at all and get 800-900k/sec speeds. very fast. Check out howardforums.com and search for "treo HSDPA"

You can get it right here if you're brave enough.

Now since 3g is about a 10-15 min. drive north of me, I won't try this patch, but if Palm holds off to long, I'm gonna do it. Seems there's good results.

and i quote "It looks like someone over at Treo Central figured out how to enable HSPDA on the 750. I don't live in an area that has HSPDA yet so I have no way to test it. Here are the instructions and thanks to bigben for posting over there...

I like a number of you have tried to get the HSDPA working on the Treo 750v. I believe I have stumbled into the solution.

First, go to a German site called fit4communication anytime at http://www.fit4cat.de/thread.php?threadid=91. Down load a program called "fit4cat Hermes Tweaker" (Windows loader version is what I used). Unzip the file and install it to your Treo 750v.

Second, go to XDA Developers at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...e=Herm es_Utils and download SetHSDPAv2.zip. Unzip the...
