BlackBerry Pearl 8100

Media Net?

Is it required to get the Blackberry data plan with cingular or can u use the MediaNet series of plans with this device? Note: I will not be using any of the specialized features of the blackberry such as push email, ptt, etc.

I would like to know this too. The cust service rep said that you must have a Blackberry plan. I get a 'Data Connection Refused' on my phone and the cheapest BB plan is $30 EXTRA a month. The Pearl is great so far, but I guess its going back.

I was told that my 9.99 plan I had on my v400 was good for the pearl.. but I am too having the same message. They said I could uprage the the BB plan to get it's full use. I'm not happy with possibly having to spend more, either. But I have already spent tons of money extras for this thing, that I can't get back. Just one of the many things they don't tell ya when you order these things on the internet!!!!
