Anyone wanna weigh in on this? Love the looks of the Dash and and the Wi-fi. Not terribly versed in WM5 as a mac user so any wisdom about which of this devices wins out I'm all ears.

I bought the Q for my wife a few months ago when it first came out and I just bought the Dash for myself.

my observations:
-I love the Wifi on the Dash
-I like the Q's qwerty keys better - they seem easier to type with than the Dash's smaller keys
-The Dash does seem more comfortable to hold than the Q (more curved organic vs edgy angular)
-Once you reghack the dash so the joggr strip works as up/down scroll its ok - I still can't stand putting the dash up to my head and having it change volumes because my hand/ear/cheek touched the joggr strip.
-I prefer the buttons on the Dash in the call/softkey area as opposed to the "membrane" on the Q. The membrane makes it hard to know if you really pressed down on the button or not.
-The but...

bottom line is...GET THE DASH, im a normal verizon customer and have both tmobile and verizon, but im tellin ya this dash is really really cool, has every feature you really need, it feels great.

and im a mac user as well and was worried about syncing, theres a program called missing sync by mark space, www.markspace.com get that its better than activesyn in my opinion and is made just for macs..

Time out...you have Verizon AND T-Mobile? Interesting. Which do you like better? Depends where you live, of course. I'm very seriously wanting to move to T-Mo which would mean leaving the comfort of the excellent vzw coverage here in NY. How's T-Mo. I checked out the Dash the other day and was blown away. Liked it much better than the Q, no question. So I'm having phone lust...any thoughts on these two carriers head to head?

My Goodness! Thanks for the very comprehensive rundown! Wow.

First of all, your on T-Mo and your wife is Verizon. Hope there's no marital tension there.

I've been checking out the Q at the Verizon store and not crazy about it. I understand that the Dash's battery life is far superior. Also, I can't believe that the Q's keys do not light up. Is that true? Absurd oversight.

Surprised to hear that the Q's screen is brighter. Compared to the Palm 650 the Q's screen is not impressive to me. The 650's screen is amazing.

I am glad you were able to hack the joggr on the Dash. I would def. go for that.

Two main concerns are switching service to T-Mo from Verizon which is very strong here in NY and syncing a windows de...

As far as syncing with a Mac, try Missing Sync. I downloaded a trial version for the HTC WIzard (uses the same OMAP processor as the Dash) and it worked just fine using the USB cable. If you download the latest version of Missing Sync and run it on your Mac without entering the registration code, it works as a 14-day trial. If you happen to have the newer Macs with the Intel chips, you have the option of running Boot Camp and Windows XP.

And as for getting used to Windows Mobile, you just have to mess around with the phone's features and learn thru experience!

Thanks so much for this info! As much as I've loved the Palm operating system over the years, that's just the point. It hasn't, really, changed or evolved in a long time. I hear that Palm is actually trashing the os as we know it altogether in favor of a Linux-based system. But I'm thinking of jumping on the windows bandwagon. For me, the Dash looks like as good a smartphone as there it right now, but Verizon has the Q so I might have to go there. Thanks, again, for your insights and time.

The Q is amazing. Slim, yet powerful. It's an amazing phone that Verizon has; bluetooth, camera, windows media player, etc..... It's worth the $419 (199 w/ 2 year contract).

thanks for the info. hard to swallow that much $$$ for unlimited data on vzw. Right now I've got 10mb plan with my treo and its very tough to stay under. I will look further into the Q, thanks to your good experience...
