I have a Moto v710 and my wife has the e815 and I'm thinking of upgrading to the KRZR. I did some searching but I have some questions about the bluetooth capabilities. Currently all I can do with my phone's bluetooth is use a headset. Can I transfer files like pictures and mp3s with the krzr's bluetooth. I don't pay for txt messaging so I'd prefer to use other methods to transfer files.

Also, I've read about VW's crippling of these phones by preventing the use of mp3s as ringtones. Is there a simple way of modifying/unlocking the phones so that I could simply set an mp3 that I transferred to my phone (using either the sd card or the bluetooth) as a ringtone? With my 710 I would put the mp3 on the phone via the sd card and then send the m...

from my experience, the krzr bluetooth is only for the headset. you cannot transfer files via bluetooth.

i previous phone was an e815. that method of transferring mp3 ringtones does not work on the krzr since it has a verizon UI not moto. you can get mp3 ringtones by sending it to your phone via text message attachment. see earlier forum threads.

the external window goes black when not in use. you just need to hit one of the side buttons to have the external window light up for the time. to my knowledge, there is not a setting to leave the light on all the time.

hope that helps. krzr is a great phone so far. the verizon UI is not as bad as some ppl say.

you can transfer files (music, pics & data) via bluetooth. you can't do that with the razr but you can with the krzr.

you just have to pair it with your PC.

i have verizon. you can push anything through the bluetooth. you just can't use mp3s as ringers. and you have to name your music only using just the band name and a dash and then the song name, no other characters.

i do this every day. just have to pair it with your laptop.

hmm, that feature is listed for the 8600 and 9900 but not the krzr,
Krzr says
Bluetooth® Capable (v1.1) Supports the Headset, Handsfree,Serial Port and Dial Up Networking Profiles. OBEX Profiles Supported: OPP (image and vCard transfer only)

So i didn't think you could transfer anyting besides possibly pix?

Here is what is listed on on the 8600
Bluetooth®
Bluetooth Capable (v1.1) –supports headset, hands-free, advanced audio distribution, serial port, dial-up networking, file transfer, audio/video remote control, object push profiles for vCard

Well that is cool then if you can transfer music and pix, Are you using bitpim or moto phone tools or are you just doing with the software that came with your dongle.

I to had the v710 (with US Cellular) and had friends who had the E815 (with Allhell) and had the problem of wanting to switch or not. I got the KRZR the first day we released it (I'm a manager for US Cellular now but have sold Cingular, Alltel, Nextel, and Suncom) and love the phone. You can transfer files from phone to phone via bluetooth also the same way with your computer. I used mobile phonetools to make my own ringers. I was iffy about switching at first but ever since i've had the KRZR I haven't had the first complaint with it.

Also I've noticed some people having problems with battery life on the phone...I listen to music for 5 hours straight 2 nights a week on my phone and my battery bar doesn't move at all. So I actually wan...
