It uses windows media player which converts mp3s to a format that plays on the phone.
If your going to purchase for music you defintely want to get a set of ear buds.
Listening on the speaker phone is ok, but the earbuds are awesome.
haven't tried pushing any wma files to the phone, but I imagine it would do the same.

The MP3's get converted to some other format not sure what kind, but they are definitely stored on the memory card if you so chose.
Very nice when swaping out hardware. You don't loose your pics or flixs.
what's aggravating is ringtones are not stored there. So even though you paid for the ringtone when you swap out phones you loose out. And have to go back to vzw to get credit.

Just put MP3's on the memory card:
If you put the memory card in first, then remove, the KRZR adds folders for music, pix, flix, etc. When you drop files in these folders they ARE NOT altered from their format (i.e. MP3's stay as MP3's)
