HP messenger phone wish list Pre-release

Well I figured since everyone ( well almmost everyone) has had some complaints about the the new phone yet to be released. I thought it might be cool to see what we would want on it or changes about the phone, company and service provider. Then compare to when it comes out and we have used it.

more internal memory

blue tooth 2.0 or higher

wifi g or higher (maybe they can work on wimax so they can actually get to a phone before something new comes along)

more pix in camera

business card reading for quicker contact entry

faster processor

better screen resoulution ( I'm sure we will have more to say on this when we actually get our hands on it)

actually release the phone when it is Fcc aproved and not when it is out dat...

Cingular hints release by Sept 30th

I just got a text message from them today saying there was a special promotion I was eligable for and a code. I called in and asked abou the new phones. They said that there is the crazy HP buyback programme and that if I get the 65xx now for $200 there is a $250 credit to the new phone through HP directly, but that it would not be a smart move considering what HP charges and the estimated retail price. Doing the math, new customers or new contracts would probably be at around $399 for the 69xx.

I just bought one from HP!

I called the small business sales number 800-888-0262 option 2 and when I asked for it it came up on his screen. Charged me 599.00 (not bad, almost paid 900 for a 6915). Don't know when it will ship but at least I am in the "Q"

HP = hubris personified

I gotta admit, it takes balls to jerk around the largest consumer market for your product for 9 months and still expect them to buy your antiques. I am going to buy a competitor today, hp can kiss my a55

This is the plan

Check out this web page. Is this HP's big plan for the 6900? Crazy huh?

Coming this week?

The HP web page for the HW6940 has finally changed today. Instead of just coming soon they are now showing the 6940 and 6945 model with a purchase option function that doesn't work. A check with sales shows they are still saying "this week" and now add this is official. If it is to be believed they are going to sell the two above models unlocked off their web page. There was no mention of any "branded" models (fine with me). I don't know if it means anything but it is the first time the 6900 web page has changed in months.

what else?

is there. Logically, i dont see any other options for a nice GSM windows PDA now. The HTC's are far too slow. what else is there. Not saying this isnt good, but it doesnt seem as if its ever going to be released. Any suggestions? 😕

outdated, but what are the other options?

Yeah yeah yeah, everyone is crying that it is already out of date without even making the market, and to not get long contracts.

So what is the alternative?

What do you see happening? A new HP series using this as a bridge on the market the way Palm used the 650 Treo to placate people until the 700 was completed?

No contract means you pay FULL retail on this phone, which makes no sense. 😕

Contract and a newer better option comes out, so what? Pick from the best that is for sale, not the best that is in the rumormill. You just look like a douchebag if you are waiting around for a phone that will trump all technology for two or more years. 🤣

Believe me, you go buy a 65xx and people see you have REAL gps on your phone, al...

Labor Day weekend release??

So rumor was that Cingy was going to be doing a Sept 1 or Labor Day weekend release. Has anyone seen or heard any more about it? I stopped by my local Cingular store and they had no idea when it was coming out. They had no at all on it and guessed like OCt maybe the end or Oct. But they always say 30 -60days. They usually get the phone or the info ont he phone about 2 weeks before release and they haven't got it yet or they can't tell people that they got it. So what has anyone else heardor seen?

802.11b wtf??? what's HP thinking?

So as I seethe only difference between this and the 6500 series is mainly the wireless and a slight redesign of keyboard? Why in the world did they make this 802.11b instead of b/g???? that is ooooooold technology..am I missing something here? If it wasn't for that I'd get this phone in a heartbeat.

What the . . . ?!?!

Hmm. . .

http://mobilitytoday.com/news/hw6920_tmobile_cingula ... »

Very strange. . . I don't know what I think about the T-Mobile comment - don't see a reason why they'd get it, but then again, there's no reason why they wouldn't.

Still, unless "Jeff" was completely on crack, this is good news. 🙂

Read Engadget!

look at all the newer and better phones than this HP "late to the party" junker. Get the HP if you can deal with below industry average but have to have built-in gps, oh wait, many new ones have it too!

Since airlines don't play a lot of movies anymore, and I have movies for my PDA, will this play them through the windows media player? If it does, I would buy it today.

Anybody know why???

After waiting for this thing for months and having the release being constantly postponed I just don't understand why? Why my friends in the UK and elsewhere are getting the hw6900 weeks before we do. Anybody have an answer to this? The specs are the same and none of them are reporting any problems other than bragging about it. I mean jeeze after all it is an American company and shouldn't we have the first wack at it. Somebody mentioned Cingular is the holdup but I don't see how when HP is going to sell locked and unlocked versions. Are they trying to burn off the unsold hw6500 series first?
