I study Human Factors, which is the Psychology of how people interact with objects, and I originally thought that the speech-to-text on the 970 would be safer while driving than typing. I was wrong, because of the lack of capable voice technology to do it correctly. I found myself looking at the screen much more than when I'd type (without looking), since so many words needed edited.

I would guess the niche is the deaf. My cousin is deaf and he is constantly using his Sidekick, along with other deaf people I have seen...a lot use Sidekicks to communicate especially with those who do not know sign language, so I guess the text to speach would be handy in that case.
I don't mean to offend, but how is a text to speech feature on the 9800 useful for a deaf person ?
The text to speech is probably just another toy to promote the 9800's sales .. with really no useful outcome.. Most of my incoming texts have some sort of abbreviation.. for example, in order to save space and time the word *before* is typed as *b4* lol.. and *anyone* as *NE1* .. Now it's really hilario...
