Smart

Bixby is terrible. They should put it to rest and focus on something else. Give the people what they want

G6 is a strange choice

I'm surprised the V30 is the honorable mention vs. the G6. All anyone could manage to say about the G6 when it was released was "Oh, how could they release a flagship with last year's processor" or how it's LCD display is inferior to competing OLED displays"? Despite the fact that LG actually beat Samsung to the punch by bringing to market a phone with the newer aspect ratio by a month or two and the fact that Samsung had a limited time exclusivity agreement to have first dibs on the SD 835 making that processor unavailable to LG for months. Yet the V30 is the honorable mention despite having features and stats actually on par with current flagship devices?

The Moto z2 Force should be on this list.

Only reason the z2 didn't make the list is its less popular.

About time

It should not be forced like that anyways. I have the S8 and cut a notch in my case to avoid pressing it. Bixby is flawed and is still not ready for release (it's still a beta program). Samsung kept coming out with software patches as people kept finding ways around having that button activate every time. Looks like they are finally admitting defeat at least as far as that is concerned. It should still be a choice as to what we want to have associated with that. I'm sure that 99% of people would rather have the button linked to Google, opening the camera, or just completely disabled.

Disadvantages

No mention in the article of disadvantages of an unlocked phone, WiFi calling is a feature I can't live without, as the signal is weak in my home. AT&T, for one, does not enable WiFi calling on unlocked phones.

No carrier bloatware is about the only lure for these 18.5:9 display ratio screen phone.

Oh but have they fixed burn-in issues?

They need to address the biggest drawback of these devices and that's the infamous AMOLED burn-in. You can always tell what a person does the most based on what gets burned into their screens.

Samsung Promotion

The promotion no longer includes the Gear VR with controller. You get a headset, 64GB memory card and the 6 months of Netflix.

Nice deal

But I would rather wait and hope that the Galaxy S9 comes out and hopefully Samsung stops with that ridiculous 18.5:9 aspect ratio display.

but carrier-branded bloatware will be absent............

Makes it very appealing.
Verizon and AT&T are the worst of the "bloatware" bunch.

I Have both

My s8 is my goto device. Im using them on Sprint and the coverage bars are usually higher on the S8 also. G6 is a good device, just seems a lil rushed.

Samsung Galaxy S8

Samsung blew it when they started playing around with the screen ratio on the S8.
Who in their right mind when 16:9 has been out for years problem free makes it 18.5:9?????
There are going to be some issues in the coming months with it. If you ask what they are, just wait for people to start complaining.
