Whoo Hoo!

This is great news for the 7 people who can get enough Sprint signal to make it work. I'm not one of them.

Samsung Truncates the contact note field

I discovered as early as the Samsung S4 mini that Samsung truncates the contact notes field. As a PDA user, contacts is my version of a contact manager.

Yesterday, I went to the Verizon store with great expectations to have a VR experience and the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. I did the same thing on four different phones, only the Samsung failed miserably. How do I describe fail? I did a copy/paste many times. Only the Samsung limited the size of the contact note field.
- What type of warning did I get after multiple copy/pastes. NONE

Here is the problem: from Palm days, and later use of Google, I have "lots" of text in a contacts note field. Here is what I found. Given I have a "large" amount of info in the contact note field:

T-Mobile

Now if their native network footprint can get a boost as well, they would be worth their weight.

And the Winner Is...

The prize goes to all the trolls who love to naysay everything about a carrier or brand they dislike. On the other hand, those of us who use Sprint, either for work or personal, welcome this news because it means better things for us.

If you dislike Sprint or some other brand, here is a novel idea: don't purchase their products or services; it's that simple.

*also shrugs*

2 bands... why not 3 bands... why not 18 BANDS!!!!

Stacking coverage over existing coverage does nothing for Sprint's #1 reason why they will always be sub-par, and that's their overall coverage. No point offering ridiculous speeds if only less than 5% of the population can enjoy it.

Grandstanding

All I can say is, since I dropped Sprint for AT&T six months ago, and spouse dropped Sprint for Verizon a year ago, we've never been happier with our cellular services. For us, Sprint was just plain lousy (southern California area), and it is a huge relief to be away from Sprint. As one poster pointed out, Sprint's main problem is its inferior coverage, and I will add, followed closely by it's long and well-known history of over-promising and under-delivering. This is likely more "grandstanding" by Sprint, grasping at straws to try to draw in unwary customers. Too bad the FCC can't just take all of Sprint's spectrum and divvy it up amongst the other carriers, at least all that spectrum would be put to good use by VZ/ATT/T-Mo, rather than th...

Meh *shrugs*

That's great and all, but lets be real here - unless you are standing next to a 2.5Ghz cell site, outdoors, on a 70F sunny day at Noon in a small town where no one has Sprint, you are likely to rarely ever see speeds like that, or even 1/10th that, or even 1/20th that. Basically Sprint can tout all they want this CA-3 and it won't really make any difference unless they did it all on their PCS spectrum where people can get service at least a little bit more than their high end spectrum covered areas.

Awesome...

I was hoping they would add new handsets or the ability to just buy a sim if you already have one of those, and nobody can beat Republics plans for $15 or $20. Not Straight Talk, not Cricket, and not Metro. Ting is debatable but they charge more than republic for a gig of data so we shall see come August.

I KNOW THEY HAVE A GOOD FOLLOWING...BUT.....

How are they going to compete with the national carriers? Sorry but AFFIRM is a RIP OFF, you would be better off going to straight talk, cricket, metro, etc...

After Update Issues

While the update was being done and after I noticed my phone was extremely hot (ended up powering off after update to cool down). 24 hours since the update my battery has been draining at a faster pace.

Prior to the July Security Patch all was well with my S7.

Anyone else having these issues?

I may have been more interested a few months ago when they first came out, but would like to see "the what is" with the new Note 7 and if it will be sold through similar channels?

Slight correction in review

A minor point, but the gold color in Samsung's line is called Gold Platinum not Rose Gold. Review too many iPhones? 🙂

Samsung

It's still just a Samsung! After 3 months the charger port will be screwed up. And it's still just a Samsung, a plastic Samsung. Get with the times Sammy, dump the Touchwiz and make a all metal body unit that can compete with the durability and most user friendly interface like the all aluminum body, SenseUI HTC One family.
