alright, so i bought this phone thinking that i could edit my own mp3s and set them as ringstones...how do i go about doing that if it is possible? thanks

edit the mp3 move it to the audio folder in the shared folder on the trans flash card (you should have formatted the card)
insert the card in the phone go to the media gallery and move the edited mp3 onto the phone using the menu (keep the title of your mp3 short or the phone might mot see it) the ringtone has to be on the phone for use not the card as a ringtone you can listen to mp3s on the card using the player though
now go to ringstyles and change to your favorite crap song (notice the c is silent)

I was using Blaze media but it costs 50 bucks and i heard someone here talking about sound forge but i googled it and it is 250 bucks so i guess i will buy the blaze media it works fine for cutting pieces out of mp3s for ringtones

itunes is free download and works with PC & MAC. I have posted the following before and it came from another post (July) on HoFo:
1. Open iTunes and select your "Library."
2. Right-click on a song you would like to use as a ringtone and select "Get Info"
3. In the newly opened window click on the "Options" tab.
4. Check the boxes to the left of "Start Time:" & "Stop Time:"
5. Enter a "Start Time:" and a "Stop Time:" Verizon/Motorola V710 rings for approx. 25 seconds, so a 25 second time length is recommended.
6. Click on "OK" and the window will close.
7. Click on "Advanced" near the top left area of the iTunes window and select "Convert Selection to MP3" from the drop down menu. The newly created MP3 file will appear belo...

BTW - step 15 is only necessary if you email the tones to your phone. If you use TF, you can leave the MP3 format. At least this is according to what I have read in posts. I have never emailed to my phone. All of my ringers are in MP3 format.

If you're a PC user then using Itunes may be sacrilegious. If by chance you have a newer Creative sound card on your computer you can use the wavestudio program, accessible from the Creative Mediasource Go! launcher, to chop edit and convert files. You can work with wav's, mp3's, or raw's(?). Picking a lower mp3 bitrate to save the file in will drastically cut the file size and since it is only a cell phone speaker playing the ringtone I doubt you would benefit from a higher bitrate.
