Holey... freakin'... baseband radios on a single chip?
Granted it isn't every band that could be supported (although T-Mobile's AWS 1700 HSPA+ is going away in favor of PCS 1900 HSPA+, and thus it isn't a big deal to not support AWS HSPA+), but still, that is a TON of radios to stick on one chip. Although no LTE for 700 and 1700 bands, it basically covers most US LTE anyway thanks to Verizon's amazing LTE ubiquity as of late. It even makes the AT&T version look... well... less global? Even the "Global" version is... well... less global than the Verizon/Sprint version just by virtue of losing LTE 750 and LTE 1900 and gaining nothing in return.
Regarding both US versions of this new iPhone 5, I say AT&T is getting shafted, T-Mobile is...

I feel like they didnt do too much to chenge the phone. All they really did was make the phone taller. Honestly Im really dissapointed from all this hype that the iPhone 5 has gotten. I was hoping that they were going to make a Galaxy SIII sized screen. But they just made it taller. I think its a crock of crap. Id rather just get the new 5th Generation iPod Touch. I love the new ear buds that they come with. But over all I find the iPhone 5 to be a disappointment to Steve Jobs. 😲
...
They didn't just make it taller. They added 4G LTE. They doubled the processor speed. They upgraded both cameras. They upgraded the display (not just more pixels, but in-cell technology.) They upgraded the sound. They upgraded the Wi-Fi. They upgraded the battery
All that, and they made it thinner and lighter.
I know it may look similar to the last one, but from an engineering standpoint, it's impressive.

I really dont find it to be too impressive. The Galaxy S3 is an amazing phone. Now THAT in itself is highly impressive. HUGE screen. I personally have a Lumia 900 and I love this phone. That phone is impressive for the price. I think they could have done more to the iPhone 5.

Me either. There is nothing impressive about the iPhone 5 whatsoever. It's the same damn phone only stretched with a faster processor and LTE running the same tired iOS. Wow another row of icons!, how innovative!! Are you freaking kidding me man? I'm so glad I dumped my iPhone for Android and never looked back. Guarantee you after a few weeks of owning an iPhone 5 people are gonna be like, meh. Cause that's exactly w...

The real question is... how many people would STILL buy an iPhone if it WASN'T the epic status symbol that it is now?
...
Apple will never make a large phone like the sg3. There stuck on the one hand thing. Specs are just as good as and phone out there. It all depends on which OS you like. They will still sell 100 million.
...
It must say people are happy with it if they are buying newer models. People can complain and cry about it all they want but at the end of the day Apple must be doing something right because customers keep coming back..... Also to say that Apple will never make a Phone like the sg3 is asinine.... You have no clue what the future holds and.... I mean sooner or later they will expand into other phones who says they arent already working successors to the Iphone..... Also Not to mention isn't apple trying to have Samsung Blocked because they were stealing Apples trademarks and even internal doc's prove this.... Sounds like to me Samsung will never have a phone like the Iphone at least by there own minds. They are more worried about copying stu...

The Onion reports on this...
Apple Announces New iPhone With N-Word On Back Knowing Customers Will Buy It Anyway
SAN FRANCISCO—With CEO Tim Cook stating that desperate customers would surely “line up like idiots” to purchase the offensive product anyway, Apple announced today the release of the company’s new iPhone 5, which features the word ... more »

As much as I dislike Apple, I sure hope this is just a joke... trying to confirm...

I should have known when it read "The Onion reports..."
It's definitely distasteful, but it's total fiction, thank goodness...

It scares me that you thought the report was real that was posted.... It's called the Onion enough said......

Haha... yes, my helpless ignorance does indeed bleed through uncontrollably to some level... I suppose that is part of how I got to the point where it is not legal for me to be employed in the United States or its territories. As Ron White has wisely observed, "You can't fix stupid..."

The Term Fan Boy comes to mind on this site 24/7 I mean all the Apple Bashing... I mean Bash on Samsung they are the ones breaking the law and everyone is taking up for them trying to say Apple owns the Judges and the court system. No it's called obey the dang law and you won't be sued....
...
Sounds Like to me it is not the same phone everything is different It may look similar but it's not the same! This Fan Boy crap is getting Old. I am sure I will be called a Fan Boy but i am using a RAZR Maxx so put that in your pipe and smoke it! I bet you one thing the Iphone will not have as many network problems like a droid does.... I have used many droids and they all have the same glitch's with dropping 4G and losing data alltogether until you start messing with the phone then the data resumes but it takes a few mins to work correctly. Thinner Bigger and Faster and Better Battery life cannot equal the same phone. What does Motorola do what does samsung do ? They all do the same thing they improve what is out and make a newer model...
...
Well I personally don't experience those glitches you're referring too, but I sort of agree. But mostly, I don't, and let me tell you why. Just because you make the screen bigger, and utilize a better processor, and do a whole bunch of things to make the phone function better and faster as a device, it's still not really bringing anything new to the table. Not a thing. Even from the technical aspects, there are already better phone out there. People, including myself, are upset because virtually nothing groundbreaking has been introduced in this iteration of Apple's flagship device. Whereas when you pick up a G1, which is an android device, you will barely be able to recognize it compared to a HTC One series device. Apple only spends 2% of i...

They also added another row of icons!
Now you can have 20 icons on one screen instead of just 16!

Doubled CPU speed? I thought they only increased the Operating Frequency by 200Mhz and the FSB by 55Mhz/Second?
...
I totally agree! Being a current iPhone 4S owner, I'd rather just wait for the upgrade next week to the iOS that is on my phone now . . .No need in spending extra money on purchasing the new phone and a new case for it when I'll still be able to enjoy some of the enhanced features on the 4S from the upgraded iOS . . .I'm a little disappointed . . .I thought this would be something to jump and down about. I guess for those who were waiting to purchase their 1st iPhone this is great, but I'm really not moved . . .

I'm reserving judgment until this thing gets some actual performance reviews and until we have more details about what that processor actually is.
Likes:
1. They upgraded Siri. I still think its a gimicky feature, but they spent alot of time marketing it, so they should upgrade it.
2. They made the screen bigger.
3. HD camera on the front.
4. Lens on that 8MP rear camera sounds like its going to be pretty good.
5. If the antenna performs as described it sounds like a pretty innovative approach.
6. Sounds like it was constructed out of really nice materials, but I'm curious how all that glass will stand up to drops.
Dislikes:
1. IOS
2. You still can't remove the battery
3. No sim card slot
4. Bigger screen or not, it still do...

I think it does have a nano-SIM card slot.

Yeah... and how helpful is that to 90% of the world?

I wasn't trying to say it's good or bad; just correcting the message I was replying to.

That was a misnomer on my part. I actually meant a micro SD card slot, or any other type of portable media for that matter. I know sim cards can technically hold some small amounts of data, but nothing really very useful. Sorry, I misspoke there.
