System update failure

About a month ago my system updated. Upon completion I had the phone locking up and simply not functioning properly. The tech at my local VZW shop worked exhaustively to try to figure out the problem and even attempted to hard reset/restore the system/phone to no avail. Finally after going through about a two-hour process the rep on the phone agreed to send a replacement phone. The man who worked on my phone thought possibly the new system update (Kit Kat) simply did not interface and function well with one or some of my apps and thought it could have possibly corrupted the phone, but he wasn't sure. Now every 12 hours the phone asks me to update the system, which I am reluctant to do based on this experience, figuring the phone may aga...

Know how to sync the Notification volume with the Ringer volume?

First off, I have a love affair with Motorola. They were my first cell phone brand, and aside from a brief stint with Kyocera (shudder), and my Blackberry Curve (meh), I've been with Motorola for the better part of 15 years.

I loved the original Droid, and from there moved to the Droid 3. Both were awesome, and if not for the sad excuse for battery life (but what else can you expect after nearly 2 years with each phone?), I had zero complaints.

All that being said, I just graduated to the Razr Maxx HD...lots of things to love (a crazy amount of onboard memory, 4G service, pretty screen with bright colors, awesome battery life so far), but also a couple to hate. Some things I already know I cannot get back, like a real button QWERTY ke...

Battery Questions

Hey I've got a razr maxx hd of course and i'm very experienced with with android in general but just a few questions really concerning the Maxx hd.. First of all I absolutely love the power, the performance of everything..

1. Whenever you're using your Razr Maxx HD for Google Maps GPS in your car, do you usually put it on the car charger, or just trust the 3300 MAH battery to still get you through the day?

2. during average usage on your phone, how much battery power, on average do you get? I'm getting about 1 1/2 days on average. On less usage, a full 2 days just wondering if that's normal for everyone else as well.

3. Does anyone here use a custom launcher like Nova or Launcher pro? I'm currently using Nova because I've found th...

External Storage SD not "real"

I would like to move some of the less-frequently-used apps to the SD card.

I installed AppMgr III in order to accomplish the moves to a 32GB SDHD card inserted into the RAZR, and which is already storing data.

Unfortunately, when the app loads, I get the following message:

"The device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving app to SD function cannot be supported by this device."

Does anyone know the source of the problem and how I can fix it?

Thanks!!

So... already broken

Let's go to the mall!
Ok we should start our Christmas shopping.

*mall shopping

What time is it?
*pull phone out to check time

Why won't it turn on? What's going on?!
WHY IS THE SCREEN CRACKED?!?!

That's how it went down. There is a crack running across the screen. How? When? What happened?

I have no clue. Maybe I bumped into a corner. Maybe I leaned against a counter too hard.

Did not drop it. No rough contact. I've been handling this thing like a newborn.

Took it to the Verizon store with just a prayer that they'd be able to help me out. (been with ATT customer service for years, so I know how it goes)
But of course, physical damage, no warranty.

The crack isn't even on the surface. Still super s...

Why not 4.2 ??

If already updating, go all the way, to the newer 4.2!

That's so frustrating!!!

What? Before the S3?

This has to be a benefit of Google owning Motorola now.

Got it today, few gripes right away

I'm coming from the HTC Droid. The first one. I've spent two years with the HTC phone and have become very accustomed to a few things.

These are features which I thought would carry over to any other phone. Very very very useful features to me.

First of all, the clock. There are only two types of clocks? The "circle" widget, which has a clock, weather, and battery life.
The other clock is an analog clock which takes up way too much space I think. Nope, don't like it.

Next issue with the clock, with the HTC, you could tap the clock to get to a number of other items, such as alarms, stopwatch, timer, AND desk clock.
Not with this one. You tap on the clock widget and it will only give you the alarm settings.
I need my t...

Problems

😢
Sadly I had to return my Razr Maxx HD. I wanted a reliable android with great battery life and a larger screen. The phone worked fine for about a week, then I noticed I had to keep tapping the widgets on the screen to get them to respond. I thought that maybe my fingers were not hitting the screen properly. It went from bad to totally unresponsive to touch. I did a hard reboot by holding the on key with volumne. You cannot take the battery out. It was still frozen. Calls came in but I could not answer them. The screen was on but touch no longer worked. Fortunately I was within the 14 day period and I immediately returned the phone and did not want a new one until I checked to see if there were other similar problems. I was ...

I have viewed some videos on youtube regarding the razr maxx hd and they were very informative. Just wondering if there were any improvements or information on the camera.
Anyone have any input?

Motorola also

originally promised ICS updates for some devices like the original Photon, and then later said no. Don't believe it until it actually happens folks.

Tower hand offs

I am about to switch over from AT&T to Verizon. I get nervous when I hear how phones on Verizon struggle with tower hand offs when the switch between 3G and LTE signal/towers and struggle when in an area of weak signals. Anyone have input on these potential issues.

Kevalr is a gimmick

So, they "line" the device with kevlar, or make the base piece of the device partially out of kevlar to increase the strength of the actual device above what it would normally be. If you were to put your phone in a situation where the added strength of the kevlar was put to the test, it wouldn't even matter - your phone would already be destroyed.

A valid question...

Would anyone like to speculate the performance of the camera function on this phone. I know nothing replaces a digital camera, but with the advances of tech. you would think that motorola would bring it up a notch in such a competitive mobile phone market.
My experience with the motorola camera feature on previous phones (unrooted) is not too good.

Finely Motorola figured out why the iPhone is so successful. Big isn't always better.
Way to go Motorola & Sky net...I mean Google. 👀

Verizon Logo

I was going to get this new phone, but with the Verizon logo ont the phone, I think I'll pass. Not that I minf the logo but it wastes the space on the display. I don't like the idea of giving something up in order to promote Verizon. I'll pass thanks.
