Oops...

Flashed my wife's Hero over to 2.1 just yesterday using the leak provided on a developer's forum. It runs slower than it did on 1.5. Wonder if I should've waited until the official release...?

I flashed my Hero using the exact same ROM. I'm really not sure what's causing her phone to run so slow.

Any different than the leak?

I just did the leaked update yesterday for 3 of my co-workers. Should I even bother with the official update that came out today?

NFL Mobile

So we will lose this then? Since Verizon agreed to a deal. I liked having this extra perk on my phone.

2.1 release date? Anybody have ANY IDEA?

I heard a guy in adv. tech support say March 26th, but I rarely believe rumors. Anybody know the exact date? I'm hoping it comes out pretty soon.

Can you get pictures in text?

Was told that you can't receive picture messages. That you receive them in your email. Want to get this phone but I am concerned if this statement is true.

Bluetooth Troubles

I cannot get my phone to link correctly with my hands free bluetooth feature in my car. I can receive calls hands free and I can make calls hands free through my bluetooth device but I cannot make a call through my phone and have it connect with my blue tooth device. Every time I dial a # or make a call through my phone it does not connect with the blue tooth feature and I have to manually transfer the call to my bluetooth device. Has anyone else experienced this and if so were you able to correct the problem?

How come Sprint Navigation always somehow pops up on App Killer...

Ok so Sprint Nav. is always popping up in my App Killer. I am wondering why? I have only checked it out once, and since then I have never used it. Which programs open Sprint Nav. Automatically? How can I make it so that Sprint Nav. only opens up when I actually press that specific icon?

Anyone have suggestions???

Anyone have suggestions that they would like to share with everyone on how to conserve battery life? I've only had my Hero for a week and the charging everyday thing is started to get pretty annoying. I've only found two things that help...

1. Turn off Data Network at night (For those of us that dont read emails in the middle of the night 🤣 )

2. Advanced Task Killer - I've only have it for about 1 day but it seems to do its job.

Please share your tips with the class if you have any good ones...

Returned it because of calendar

I returned the Hero due to the horrible calendar application. It's not acceptable. Having used a blackberry for quite some time, I cannot even begin to tell how bad the calendar app is for the Hero. The google calendar syncs perfectly but the GUI is just deplorable on the phone itself. Yes, I did try the various settings but to no avail, the calendar is the main reason I had to return it.
The number one issue is that the Hero does not alert when there is a time conflict. In other words, the Hero does permit overlapping calendar events but does NOT warn you of time conflicts. The blackberry does notify users of time conflicts and then lets the user decide if it's ok or not ok.
Finally, the Android OS is nice but until 2.1 is release...

Really don't know what to do

I am at the end of my 30 days for this Hero. I have a love hate relationship with it since I am coming from a blackberry.

The phone is nice, and has a great screen. Most of the apps are not necessary but fun. I have not used any of the apps except Timeriffic and a few others...because they are not needed for the basic function of the handset.

The battery life is pretty dismal...coming from a phone which would last 3-4 days on a single charge to the HTC Hero that barely lasts one day...regardless of the settings, firmware, etc. All of that is minimal disruption but it's important to note.

The release for Android 2.1 for Sprint is not available and I was hoping that the release would correct some of the issues.

The calendar o...

Bad calendar

The phone is nice but the calendar application is simply awful! As others have stated, once you go blackberry you never go back to any other calendar on any smart phone. The calendar on this phone is, by far, the ultimate worst.

The calendar is linked to Google calendar which is cool because I do use Google calendar. But the layout and design, let alone the function of the android calendar leaves a lot to be desired.

saving text messages

I am still on the fence as to whether or not I am going to keep the HTC Hero. The battery life is now resolved but another issue has risen....saving text messages.

How can text messages be permanently saved or marked for non-deletion? I have searched the phone and cannot figure it out.

Will probably return Hero for another BlackBerry/calendar issues/alarm clocks/auto on/off

I have been using the Blackberry Curve from Sprint for just over a year. Now that customers can upgrade annually with Sprint, I took advantage of the heavy discounts and upgraded to the Hero. My first impression was so awful that I actually went to sprint.com and reactivated my blackberry. The next day I reactivated the Hero and I still have mixed reviews. I have not posted my review yet to phonescoop because I like to own the phone for 3 weeks prior to posting to make sure it's an accurate review and not an emotional review.

If the Hero could replicate a calendar like that of a BlackBerry, I would be happy. I have looked through the apps and cannot find anything to change the calendar. Currently, the Hero does not alert you of conf...
